Probably will be spending a lot of time in Isaiah and Ezekiel as well.

I would highly suggest "Evidence that demands a verdict" by Josh McDowell.

from the viewpoint of the 'other' side....I say kudos and 04-cheers

IMO, it's important to view from that side of the mirror for the masses

I spent 35+ years as a well seasoned non-beliver, so I can pretty well assure you I've been there.

It wasn't a blind leap of faith that changed my mind. It was a long, serious, in depth study of the Word of God (particularly prophecy) and its historical and present day accuracy. Including the incredible amount of 2000-3000 year old manuscripts and scrolls that prove what we have today is what was actually written 2500 years ago.

so again, I'll say it differently with kudos and 04-cheers

I always pegged it as regressed emotions after years of occupation by other empires. Once you are free, you never wish to go back or share.

Field Marshal Tito ruled with an iron fist, but people that had Ottoman, Hapsburg, Jewish, and Orthodox backgrounds were able to form a country that thrived (relatively) behind the Iron Curtain. When Tito died, and the Serbian-officer dominated military started enforcing more ethnic interests, all bets were off. Such a shame, as the ideal of a secular, peaceful society in a former Ottoman Empire backwater was a pretty spectacular thing.

I suppose iron fists are necessary, in some cases, especially in a region unfamiliar with republics, to control a hodgepodge of ethnic groups.

Finished the Martian yesterday. I'm surprised that I liked it. I mean really, really liked it.

Not going to lie to you, my least favorite courses in high school were science and math. I wasn't particularly bad at them, they didn't interest me.

The Martian started out rough. A lot of numbers and nerd speak. Then the other parts of the story got involved. Wow. People at work thought I was nuts when I got to certain parts.

Ian Bremmer, Superpower - What future path for the US -- indispensable, independent, or Moneyball? I vote Moneyball, author votes independent.
Peter Zeihan, Accidental Superpower - Analysis of where the world is and where we are headed by a former STRATFOR analyst.
George Friedman, The Next 100 Years (reread) - Controversial future predictions by the head of STRATFOR, I'd say more pessimistic than Zeihan.
Jim Rogers, A Gift to my Children - Short primer written for his young daughters by an old HS friend who was the brains behind George Soros's currency manipulations, but no longer speaks to Soros.
Rand Paul, Taking a Stand - Had dinner with Rand and Kelley and about 30 friends last night, and Rand gave me a copy, so I'm just starting this.

Too many to remember but they were all non-fiction. I'm such a nerd that when I go into a library I feel like I'm in a toy store. At this time I'm reading "What We Knew" which is a compilation of memories from both Jews and non-Jews in Nazi Germany. Waiting in the wings is "The Heir Apparent" which is a biography of Edward VII, the Playboy Prince,

I've read the book on the English kings up to Henry II. A book on the Inquisition. Billy Crystal, Milton Berle, etc. Jeepers, this old brain sure forgets quickly.

Anyway, when I finish these two I'll reread "God's War on Terror" but this time I'll underline important paragraphs.

I've been looking for a biography of Thomas Cromwell and so far no luck.

The Playboy Prince is a book I'd like to get my hands on. After "The Martian" I need a new fiction right now.

I'll head to the library tomorrow, even though the books I want are never there.

I've been looking for a biography for Oliver Cromwell and have had similar luck. The family clearly needs a better publicist.

A Land so Strange-Resendez Its the story of Cabeza de Vaca's 1528-1536 journey walking across America in a failed Spanish expedition.

Calico Joe-Grisham I like his lawyer books, but they all kind of run together for me now. This one was different and very good.

I would recommend "The Grand Sweep." Its a book and program to take you through the whole Bible in a year. Its particularly good with a small group. It really helps you see how beautifully it all fits together. Its not as intensive as the Disciple programs, which everyone says are also very good.

I'm reading the New Testament with my kids (not just this summer).

I read the Maze Runner series. Three books plus the prologue in about 2 weeks. They were pretty good but they were dark. A lot darker than I thought they would be based on the movie.

I've just started another book. One rogue man( I think that's the name) by brad taylor. It weaves true events into the story and is pretty good so far but I'm only 80 pages in.

I've been wary of autobiographies ever since I read TR's. He left out his first wife.

Denali's Howl - about a mountaineering tragedy in 1967 when a terrible storm hit the mountain. Then "The Brothers: The Road to an American Tragedy" about the Tsarnaev brothers. I'm not certain I really want to read that now that I think about it, just checked it out from the library.
