New basketball roster is online for the men. One new walk-on listed (Harrison Brown from Virginia).
He's listed as a sophomore, but this past May he signed an LOI to play at DIII Dickinson.

For some reason they are listed as sophomores.
Academically advanced recruits. I love it!
Well played Sir.04-bow

Brown is now listed as a freshman.

That's more like it-- 6 true Freshman and Koulechov as the RS Soph. Wouldn't be surprised if Koulechov (an upgraded version of Seth Gearhart?) and Letcher-Ellis are our starting forwards.

Anyone been to the gyms to see if the new players are on campus and playing pickup already? When does the SEAL training begin this year?

Yes. I believe they've been on campus all summer. A friend told me they looked pretty impressive.

Thank you, dragon2owl. I'm excited for the upcoming season for men's and women's basketball at Rice. November can't come soon enough!

MyBB RE: WBB and MBB
Very nice promo video posted of former Owl and future Swiss-League player Seth Gearhart talking about the difference new Rice head Coach Mike Rhoades made in him having a chance to play professionally vs the level he was at with the previous coaching staff.

"Honestly, I wouldn't be getting a chance to go play overseas if it wasn't for them coming in...because of that, that's really the reason why I get to go play over there (Switzerland)....Something I learned is that you've got to be aggressive at all times...they're looking for people who are going to come and make a statement...and so if you are aggressive--those are the people who are going to stick out, not the people who are kind of passive; doing what they're comfortable with--they're doing a little bit more."

When Seth was asked about his most memorable game:

"Definitely the game that we won at Western Kentucky. They were the number one team in the league at that point. We went into their place (in Rhoades' very first season as Head Coach at Rice)--it was pretty much sold out and we weren't going to be stopped that night. It was a collective effort to be meaner, tougher."

Looking forward to Season 2 of Mike Rhoades in just a few months...thank you to Joe Karlgaard for picking him to be your Head Coach!
