RE: Great Wade Townsend Article
FYI - Wade named his first dog Razz, which is a variation of poker, and one that is played at the WSOP.

"Razz is a form of stud poker that is normally played for ace-to-five low (lowball poker). The object of Razz is to make the lowest possible five-card hand from the seven cards you are dealt. In Razz, straights and flushes do not count against the player for low, and the ace usually plays low. Thus, the best possible Razz hand is 5-4-3-2-A, or 5 high, also known as "the wheel" or "the bicycle"."

After Day 1 at the World Series of Poker (playing 10K Buyin)-- from Wade's facebook post...

Quote:"It wasn't just some of the game's best players that were successful today, with a number of celebrities and sports personalities taking their seats at the table today. Most successful was former MLB first round draft pick Wade Townsend, who bagged up 146,000 going into Thursday's Day 2. He will be joined by famous actors and comedians Ray Romano (33,375) and Brad Garrett (46,050), who dodged bullets and avoided sharks to finish today's play and continue in the Main Event."

I'm pretty sure it's the first time I've ever been mentioned in the same sentence with Ray Romano smile emoticon

He's made it to Day 3, but barely - only 26,000 in chips.

Part of the WSOP was being held at Aria. We were staying at Vdara this week and when we went to Aria we stopped at the tournament and looked for him but no luck.

He tweeted less than 10 minutes ago. He's still in with 26,000.

Wrong event. The World Series of Poker hosts a number of smaller events leading up to the Main Event. Wade finished high enough in a couple of those events to earn $$.

The Main Event started this week with over 6400 entered. Wade is one of about 1800 left after 10 rounds of play, but he is low on chips. The top 1000 finishers will get payouts.

The Main Event, the one crowning the World Champion, is event #68.
