Question for ODU and Charlotte fans.
Do you know what your average attendance was for the 2p14 season? I am putting together a spreadsheet and the NCAA ranking sheet that I used for numbers did not include ODU, Charlotte, or Appy State.

No smack involved here. Just doing a spreadsheet. I wanted to see where we ranked overall using different attendance variables and without your numbers it's not accurate.

THANKS IN ADVANCE!

Take a look at the schedule. Hard to create any enthusiasm with that, especially when you have the Panthers in town and it's a short drive to a good amount of ACC and SEC schools.

Last three home games drug us down, but the average is still only 1,500 under our seating capacity.

RE: Question for ODU and Charlotte fans.
Noon games in 100 degree heat and a backfilled home schedule with the likes of Wesley (D III) & FCS doormat Morehead State brought that average way down as the stadium was only half full for those two utterly meaningless games.

I was at the opener vs JC Smith (Noon start end of august or 1st weekend in Sept). Stadium was 95% full (against a DII school), but it had to have been 120 degrees in the bleachers. Maybe 10% of the crowd made it past the 3rd quarter in a game that was over by halftime (IIRC 49ers won 56-7, and the 3rd stringers were in during the 2nd half).

The 49ers will likely average their full capacity this season (just under 16k w/ SRO), especially with night games and better opponents & start times. The question will be, can they generate enough unfulfilled demand to justify an expansion to 25k for next season? ODU has that kind of waiting list. Charlotte doesn't, yet.

All noon games didn't help.

On the ODU board, they were saying they don't have a waiting list any more. People probably just gave up over time knowing they'd never get a season ticket without making donations to the ODUAF.

Yep. A lot of people don't realize they can get tickets by giving, so they don't bother trying. They assume a huge donation is necessary. In addition to that, we also have a student body where if you don't claim tickets within an hour or two of them becoming available, you don't get a ticket. The new stadium will help ensure more students that want to go to the games actually get in.

Our problem isn't so much getting students to come as it is getting them to stay. That's an issue that a lot of schools face though. I know NCSU's coaches have complained about students leaving at halftime then never coming back.

This.

But in terms of areas that could use some improving, attendance is tops on the list. Yeesh isn't unfair commentary for last november. Very correctable, though, especially with better gametimes. We like our tailgating.

Also keep in mind - for schools not named Charlotte, ODU, or USTA - you'll talk to fans who atttended their very first _____ University game in 1994 or 1987 or 1979 or whatever. All our fans 'became' fans in 2013 or 2014. There's a lot of room to grow. Gotta find ways to reel 'em in.

You had 14,498 for #25 Charleston Southern your 2nd home game of the season.

Now I will agree that yes noon games definitely hurt. Also not necessarily the home schedule, but THAT home schedule when you know you are going D1.

I'm expecting you guys to average over 15k this season. You have a pretty good home schedule and first year in FBS. Marshall game will def sell out.

Our first home game is at noon. We have one other at noon later in the season.

That was the kids not showing. They got 7500 of the 15000 seats. The student allotment was reduced for 2015. Basically all the seats that have been empty in Charlotte football history can be blamed on the kids. The FSL holders show up.

The marching band will finally make their debut, too, which will help take up some student seats

It cost $10,000 for just the right to purchase season tix for a family of 4 between the 30 yard lines ($4k in cheaper seats). No one spends that kind of money to not show up at games. So the FSL holders aren't the problem. They show up.

But with the recent reduction of student seating, we now need new 2015 fans to show up each and every saturday. Should that be a priority? Yes. Can it be done? Absolutely

I think everyone is curious to see what kind of attendance we get in C-USA. The stadium is expandable but no one knows yet the ifs, whens, or how much it should be expanded.
