Cleveland
Yesterday they offered:
Iman Shumpert - 8 ppg, 4 rpg 11.5 PER gets 4 years $40M
Tristan Thompson - 8 ppg, 8 rpg, 15.7 PER gets 5 years $80M
Kevin Love - 16.4 ppg, 9.7 rpg, 18.9 PER gets 5 years $110M

Oh yeah and they still have to sign Lebron. Should be paying a ton of tax next year.

I can't believe how much players are getting. These mega billion sports/ESPN/Disney/stadium empires bubbles are going to burst eventually. This cannot be sustained. As cities continue to crumble, and full time good paying jobs continue to get replaced with part time poor paying jobs. We are going to look up one day and watch the government bailing out major league sports.

The salary cap is raising considerably. The fact of the matter is, the owners and TV executives have been making $$$ hand-over-fist while even the best players in the game only see a fraction of that income. It's time to start paying these guys their market value.

Supposed to go from $67M to $89 (or $91) next year and $108 to $110 the following year.

Money is in live, unscripted entertainment. It can't be sustained indefinitely. ESPN probably can. But CBS/NBC/Fox Sports Networks will probably suffer some whittling down. NBA will continue to rise if NBA focuses on international markets. It has a better opportunity for growth than any of the other major American sports. I don't know if they did or not, but if they split international rights from the billion dollar package they just received, then that alone could boost their revenue potential. Heck, China alone -- focus on being #1 in China, #1 overall in Asia, and settle as a strong, entrenched #2 in the world, behind soccer. Cricket and soccer have shown sports can thrive. And neither are at least #3 in the 4th most populous nation.

The government already bails out the major sports with non-profit statuses and exemptions from antitrust. That ship has sailed. Get rid of that, to start. NCAA and college sports should not receive non-profit status. No major sport should not receive antitrust exemption. Then shrink stadiums and innovate the experience for fans. Make the experience more kid-friendly, or increase other opportunities to engage with them, get rid of the vituperative expletive spitting drunk bro-fan.

The NBA is in such a great spot. I hate the length of the season and volume of supply, but that seems irreversible right now. Other than that, the league has rebounded quite well. They'll still lockout at the next CBA, though, I think.

If they trade for Joe Johnson they will pay over 200 million in salary and luxury tax next season. On a 77ish million dollar salary cap. And the next season they need to get back under the cap(not gonna happen) or the repeat offender multipliers kick in. LOL
