I voted for UTSA even before I saw your comments.
I like the fact that you get such great fan support for such a new program. You will probably move up quickly like UCF and USF.

Your first mistake was that you responded to a Kitton post.
Fwiw, Miami (and UMass if you count them through this year) isn't named after a city, it refers to the Indian tribe and the nearby valley region of the same name. And while Buffalo is named after the city, they're technically a SUNY flagship.
While names are important for branding, people place too much weight on them. People don't think of USC as small time, but when they think of flagships like Vermont or South Dakota they do. As long as you don't have a name like Southeastern North Carolina State Tech College for the Blind, it won't hold you back too much in the short run.
Yeah, in the back of my head I knew that, just slipped my mind. I was fortunate to attend Halloween in Oxford a long time ago. It was a great time. Thanks for the reminder.

50/50 on Southern Miss and Rice.
Rice is closer to being an institutional peer, but I get the feeling that the return of a USM-Tulane series would be mutually productive.
USM is the rival that I couldn't really pull myself to hate as they aren't little pieces of shite like some of the other "fans" of schools in the region.
I'll vote for USM, but it's really close as I respect Rice and wouldn't mind having them as a conference mate again.

Southern Miss and Rice are my favorites. I voted for UAB because of a tough year. Would really love UAB if they would just go by Birmingham and give the middle finger to Alabama. I liked the basketball uniforms with Birmingham across the chess a lot.

I put UAB, because i felt sorry for them.
But after reading the article about Southern Miss, it changed my mind.
Can we go in to Most Hated now, I want to hate Marshall!

I thought "Necessary Roughness" would get us a few more votes. Sinbad, Kathy Ireland, and Scott Bakula. It was a good football movie.

I voted for Southern Miss because of Brett Favre, but I'm partial to UTSA, since their creation caught my attention.

They've always been a school touted on the verge of breaking out nationally in FB.
There is a sense with their brand that they could be much more athletically than what they've been.
A lot of the schools in CUSA by name alone do not sound like they belong at the top level of football. Old Dominion, Western Kentucky, Charlotte, UAB, UTSA its all easy to forget they play football. Its weird to see them suit up in helmets and pads.
Sound like we don't belong? Coming from a fan from the MAC, that's laughable. Ohio and Ball State are the only teams in the MAC that aren't a directional or named for a city. Technically speaking Kent State actually is not named after the city. It was actually named for the family that donated much of the land the university now uses. The family name was Kent and it is also the same family of which the city was named.
So Kent shares the same name as the town for similar reasons but is actually not named for the town.
Kent also has the "distinction" of being the only public university in Ohio to be named after an individual due to this reason.

Based on the post I responded to, neither is Kent. It's supposedly named after a family.

Charlotte would have been up there too, but I find too many of their fans let their hate of UNC-CH and Duke get in the way of their view of the rest of the ACC.
You won't really find many Charlotte fans hating on Duke. The coach that revived our program was a Duke grad and they've never really been condescending towards us. They even just scheduled a home and home with us in football, making them the first acc team to do so.
Duke has my respect.

Great academics, integrity, a David going up against Goliaths, the MOB, perhaps the best sight lines of any college football stadium in the country.
Also they were "neighbors" for many years.
