Cowherd: Big 12 to evaporate, Texas to Pac-12 and Oklahoma to SEC
More Big 12 rumor mess...

ESPN radio host Colin Cowherd said the Big 12 will evaporate, leaving Texas and Oklahoma to go their separate ways in college football realignment....

If it's true it will be OU and OK State to the SEC with Texas and Baylor to the Pac-12 leaving the Big 12 with 6 teams.
WVU
Kansas
Kansas State
TCU
Texas Tech
Iowa State

That's still a nice group my guess is they would stay together and go to 14 or 16 at the least 12 but the smart move would be 14 or 16. I think ECU UCF Cincy UCONN Memphis Houston USF SMU BYU Boise State SDSU would all be looked at.

Ruh roh. If this is true it seems like the top of the AAC will combine with the bottom of what's left of the b12 to form another group of teams that are left out

Could be good for those of us that get to move on though. Increased competition with higher profile schools. I'm excited about what's gonna happen however it plays out

That bottom group of the Big 12 isn't really the bottom anymore

Nah...if that happened...there is enough critical mass to build a P6

It might be #6 but it would be in the club...and frankly college sports would be better.

You're wrong on the adds: East Carolina too far away; and you constantly disrespect Tulane. No way for USF either, also too far away.

If that happens the left overs need to go for media markets and recruiting grounds. USF and UCF will be looked at and are more valuable than Tulane. Sorry but true is the reason Tulane wasn't added to American until the last expansion. A small private school would be the last thing the Big12 left overs will need

Recruiting grounds I agree with media markets is overhyped old news.

Wrong

UT, Oklahoma and probably Kansas too, hold that conference together. If those 2-3 are gone, AAC markets crush the big1/2 leftovers.

Might be overhype old news but every expansion has followed that trend. Remember that it will be TV advising Big12 who to add, just like they have done with all leagues in past.

You go back. Watch what happens. Your program is not the program to try to act elitist. Whether you want to admit it or not. Tulane is more similar to the big market schools than ECU. Geographically it is more like a La. Tech or Southern Miss. Larger crowds but not a market boon. Also you would be the 5th power school in one state. I'm not sure that is very helpful to your cause if TV is still a major factor. News flash... Not only does Tulane reside in New Orleans. We have only (one) power 5 school in our state. Watch what happens. I remember well (USM Backer) talking trash on Tulane for years. I'm not sure if he is even on the message boards anymore. (For obvious reasons) so stop calling Tulane fans trolls.

Tulane has an uphill battle to climb in P5 realignment. Louisiana State carries a large stick.

Yes but we all remember what happen between Big East and CUSA
The Big12 name as still currently P5 league will carry weight and they will poach from MWC and AAC.
The question will be how many do they add, 6 to go to 12 or 10 to go to 16

As long as West Virginia is part of the Big 12 I like East Carolina's chance.

Yeah Tulane has it all. Except a good football team or basketball team. Or a decent sized basketball or football arena/stadium. Or the fan support other teams bring. The only upsides for Tulane is geography and has a decent market. Other schools bring that and more to the table. Tulane just doesn't bring anything that other schools don't do better. For example the ONLY thing that Tulane has over UCF is geography and that's because you're a little closer of a plane ride.

Being friends with WVU never got us in the BE so unless they have more power in teh B12 than they did in the BE I can't see this as something to hang hopes on.
