RE: UALR Rebranding
Looks good. Miss my time in Little Rock. God I want some mud bugs from Flying Fish, a burger from Cotham's and maybe some ink from 7th Street if I get hammered enough from Vinos. :/

I think the flagship issue is pure BS, mostly fostered by the north Louisiana flagship, LTUR.
As I mentioned previously, each year it seems our administration is getting more bold in pushing the issue, almost to the point where it appears they want a legal challenge. I applaud them. We should never stop fighting for what was ours in the first place, granted legally according to the rules and structure in place at the time and undone out of spite by the political heavyweight of the state of Louisiana.
Thanks for the response. Tech's role in the flagship issue is interesting. I really will have to pay more attention to the specifics of the argument.
UNLV doesn't ***** and scream because Nevada Reno decided to call themselves Nevada. They exist very well in the same conference with their own identities. ULM and Louisiana can similarly coexist in the same conference. ULM is branded the way they want to be branded, but wants to keep us down to soothe their own egos. A school with 1/2 the enrollment, 1/10th of the endowment, 1/7 the research, and the smallest budget in FBS football is barely alive academically and athletically, yet insists that our use of Louisiana puts them on an un-level playing field. The un-level playing field is not because we call ourselves Louisiana. It is a gap that is widening every year. There is nothing stopping ULM for seeking similar achievements. Because they can't, they think ULL and ULM names will serve to keep us at the same academic level, which is preposterous. Instead, it is just like the Wichita State poster said. Every effort is made to derail a school's choice on how it is branded and that, in turn, hurts the conference as well as the school. Use of LOUISIANA is legal. The head of the UL System Board does not object to our use of it. So, why do fellow conference mates object to it? ULM can continue to object all it wants to, it will not make a difference. Internal conference fighting does the conference no good and certainly doesn't help us seek the identity we choose. ULM has its identity. Louisiana is our identity. Like the MWC does with Nevada and UNLV, it is time for the conference members to come on board with ULM and Louisiana. A successful Louisiana only helps the SBC in recognition. Why tear that down and why stop a university from achieving recognition as it wants to be referenced?
Actually once redistributing and the rise in Las Vegas population shifted power to Las Vegas they got a law passed forcing Nevada to tack Reno on to their name and only recently allowed them to market as Nevada. As of last year UNLV called them UNR or Nevada-Reno on their schedules.
UNLV calls them Nevada Reno, but no one else does. Not their conference, conference mates, ESPN or any other network. No reason the SBC can't call us Louisiana which would in turn get ESPN to call us Louisiana. ULM and Louisiana like UNLV and Nevada. If ULM wants to do the same thing with us as UNLV does to Nevada, fine. Our conference and our conference mates, however, should call us Louisiana and ULM as we both request.

RE: UALR Rebranding
The Razorbacks officially responded to UALR's "Little Rock's team" branding this week by selling new T-Shirts that read "My Home is In Little Rock, but my Team is in Fayetteville."
But they don't pay attention to Little Sun Belt Schools...don't worry.

Surprised ArKansas hasn't forced UALR into NAIA like Auburn does AU-Montgomery.

When AState faced them in the playoffs it was Nevada-Reno it too, some begging political moves to get back the Nevada moniker. Go back to the 80's and even early 90's they were never called just Nevada by anyone.

That's right, they were called Nevada Reno for years. I don't know exactly when the name transitioned to just Nevada and was accepted on a national level, despite what UNLV calls them. Seems to be similar to what we are going through in our transition to Louisiana.
