Awesome Day In UTEP History
Today in UTEP history, 1955: Texas Western College becomes the first college in Texas to desegregate. The first group of black students enrolls at Texas Western College following the recent ruling ending segregation at the school.

Lot of schools desegregated in 1955, including AState.

Where UTEP stands tall was being among the first in the south to integrate athletics. That was done by choice, not court order and came more than decade before many teams in the south would do so.

Following the law is no achievement. Going above the minimum required is the achievement and UTEP has a great legacy as a result.

Just saw Glory Road for the first time this weekend. UTEP certainly has a legacy that's worth celebrating when it comes to achievement and diversity.
