Yeah I have to agree with these rankings. Taggart's seat is very hot. Also agree O'leary is probably lower. He's the AD. Is he going to fire himself.

10 - Pants on fire
0- Cold as ice

1. Taggart, USF 7.57
2. Johnson , Tulane 5.57
3. Diaco , UConn 4.42
4. Tuberville, Cincinnati 3.14
5. Rhule , Temple 2.85
6. Montgomery , Tulsa 2.57
7. McNeil , ECU 2.28
8. Morris , SMU 1.57
9. O' Leary , UCF 1.42
10. Niumatalolo, Navy 1.00
11. Herman , Houston 0.71
12. Fuente, Memphis 0.71

O'Leary is a 0.00. He could drop his pants and take a $hit on the sidelines and keep his job.

The guy.is untouchable. He could sleep with Hitts's wife, stream it over the Internet, give her an STD and he would still be UCF's coach.....and would likely get a raise out of it.

That's Dr. Hitt! but, yes, it's true! He can walk around naked everyday on campus and on-field with a dxxxo in his ass-hole, gay-married a black dude, molestering that beautiful TV anchor on live national tv, but somehow he can still hold his job.

Well that was a little bit in depth...

I am thinking everyone from Tuberville on down would have to be outed as a member of ISIS to even be considered for termination.

Yes but he could do all that and his resume will read. "I'm Jesus Christ"

I strangely agree with everything about his rankings. I actually don't think a single AAC coach gets fired this year though.

Probably, but if you're young in year 4, whose fault is that?
Anyway, we are a lot better personnel-wise than we were from 06-12, despite the poor season last year.

His first recruiting year was a mess as he was still working for the Saints.

RE: AAC Football Coaches Hot Seat Rankings
Johnson's recruiting has been steadily improving, meaning our team is perennially young. I agree with other posters that it's going to require the wheels to fall off this season for him to be fired. If he even improves by one game, they're keeping him (like it or not). My opinion is he has the resources to do much better than 4-8, and he needs to this season. No excuse not to.

8. Morris , SMU 1.57
11. Herman , Houston 0.71

I don't see either one getting fired soon, but just for discussion: I would say Herman is more on a hot seat than Morris.

One, the SMU coach didn't get fired after a 5-7 season. A coach that desperately tried to get hired by another school and thought he was. A coach that no longer bothered recruiting. Meanwhile UH fired a coach that went 8-5 who while he had less than expected results on the field, no one questioned his efforts.

Two, SMU has lower expectations the next few years. If they go 4-8, it's a big improvement. If UH goes 6-6, it's a disappointing season and worse than last year's record which got the coach fired.

The only reason SMU might have more of a hot seat is the ability to pay off coaches' contracts. But their recent history is they don't have the willingness to pull the trigger on firings.

Related question:

Who from this list is most likely to accept a P5 job or retire?

1. Taggart, USF 7.57
2. Johnson , Tulane 5.57
3. Diaco , UConn 4.42
4. Tuberville, Cincinnati 3.14
5. Rhule , Temple 2.85
6. Montgomery , Tulsa 2.57
7. McNeil , ECU 2.28
8. Morris , SMU 1.57
9. O' Leary , UCF 1.42
10. Niumatalolo, Navy 1.00
11. Herman , Houston 0.71
12. Fuente, Memphis 0.71
---

Leave for a P5 job:

>Herman and Morris - if Herman and Morris can do a one year turnaround job I can see a P5 team taking a chance on them despite only one year as a head coach

>Fuentes - the guy is a hot commodity and it will be bittersweet for long suffering Memphis fans if he has another great year....but winds up leaving for a P5 job.

Retirement

>O'Leary - this one is easy....can any of you UCF fans see him stepping down as head coach to try his hand as a full-time Athletic Director? Either way I'm hearing from my UCF friends that this will likely be his last year. Then again, I've heard this before from some pretty well plugged in UCFers...so who knows.

RE: AAC Football Coaches Hot Seat Rankings
BTW, my prediction is that Coach Taggart has a big year and gets a contract extension.

He has built up a ton of recruiting momentum this summer....and I keep hearing that fans are going to really see improvement on both sides of the ball.

Of course, it's all dependent on how our QB position plays....but I have a good feeling about this year and where the program is going on and off the field. 07-coffee3

My gut says he wants to coach 2-3 more years. I don't see him leaving after this season.

Don't know Morris' buyout, but Herman's is $2.25mm before Feb 2018, not impossible, but pretty high for being fairly unproven as a head coach.

I don't think this will be O'Leary's last year

I haven't completely given up on the top 3. I'd feel better about Diaco if he was pulling in the recruits that Taggert is.

Johnson inherited what was quite possibly the most hopeless situation in all of FBS. He's been on the job for three seasons now and there have been small signs of progress. I'm personally not sold on the guy but there is no serious reason to think that anyone else would've done better -- so far.
