2016 Class - Football
I was happy to read that SMU has already gotten 17 commitments (three this weekend) for their 2016 class. Houston is doing very well also. It even sounds like we are fighting UH for kids more often, makes a good rivalry. How's the rest of the conference doing? Good luck to all.

RE: 2016 Class - Football
We usually start slow and finish pretty strong and this year isn't any different. We're in the final 8 for the #63 recruit in the country, final 4 for the #206 recruit in the country, final 6 for the #248 recruit in the country, and one of the leaders for a 4* OT who isn't ranked. We have a great chance at the 4* OT, but probably won't land any of the others. It's good that we're making in-roads with some top recruits. Our class will probably start to develop in the next month or two.

RE: 2016 Class - Football
We're off to a solid start as well, with 10 commits, all three-star caliber, with three who are on the cusp of being four-stars.

One of those three is the reigning Ohio All-Division OPotY Jeremy Larkin, who accumulated 2584 rushing yards on 294 attempts with 38 TD's in the most difficult conference in the state of Ohio (the GCL South) while leading his team to a State Championship as a Junior. He's fully committed to UC and is probably the gem of the class so far, but we are in on a few others who may take that title.

We've got three very high level offensive line commits that also had offers from most of the mid-level Big Ten schools.

RE: 2016 Class - Football
for houston: i think no matter what happens at this point we end up with the best g5 class..we've never been a bad recruiting team but we've never done it like this before...there was always stigma about Houston before with the local kid, almost all our touted guys were from out of state..in okorn's class (who's from florida)..we had only 4 out of the 25 kids within a 30 min drive from campus ..this year so far 10 of the 11 are within a 30 minute drive and 9 of the 11 have atleast 3 p5 offers ..

right now we are fighting whether or not we land in the early fifties (best g5 but not that great for P5, or a top 20 class better than most p5) but funny enough our sorta touted qb recruit (who has offers from clemson, texas and ohio state) might be the reason we dont get the top 20...for most of the recruiting season everyone thought we were going to get a "at the time" local 3star qb..which most of us were excited about as he had asu, A&m & ucla offers (so he could obviously play), but more importantly he is best friends with a ton of the elite local recruits, and 1 already pledged to go to the same school as him (a top 100 elite 4star WR)...but he took his sweet time committing and we landed our current QB commit during that time (who at the time was rated way higher than him, but note he is from the dallas area and doesnt know any houston locals)..we then dropped from his favorite to not in his top 5..to add insult to injury, he has had the fastest growing stock of any player in the nation...he dominated the rivals camp and was one of the first qbs to get an elite 11 invite ...in 2 months he went from a lower ranked 3star to a elite level 4star top 150 recruit (the highest rated qb recruit in texas according to espn)..our 5star DL (who he is best friends with) has talked us back into his top 3 but it might to late.. everyone is saying he lands in florida, who are after him hard..

realistically: we lose our 4 star who wasnt that strong a commit, but round out with a ton of 3star to finish with a top 60 class a top the g5..

optimistically: florida, gets a different qb commit, suck in the season but their freshmen qb does good enough to secure the starting spot for some years ..the QB and WR land in Houston, those 2 alone likely put us the top 30, im certain atleast 2-3 more touted guys follow and we end up top 20..with the greatest g5 class ever :-D

RE: 2016 Class - Football
We're at 8.

4 really athletic big guys, with good frames but raw.

One of the top NC QBs, interest from all NC P5s, offers from BC and Miami FL

High 3 star WR/S, offers from VT, Wake, App, and Georgia Southern

2 star safety I know nothing about other than hes tall, fast and has offers from Army and ODU

And then Dre Massey who's a Juco that committed to us out of high school but didn't qualify. He may or may not stay committed. Offers from Cincy, MTSU. Interest from Utah, Mizzu, Florida, Georgia, Louisville, Okie, Miss State, Ole Miss and Memphis

RE: 2016 Class - Football
I'm kind of surprised that UCF only has 5 recruits as of right now, as this is year 1 off of recruiting restrictions. We should finish with a decently large class when it's all said and done.

We've got 5 recruits, and 4 of them seem to be above average rating wise. More importantly though is where they are from, as 3 are from Florida (Miami and Tampa + elsewhere). Hopefully that continues and we can build fences around strategic Florida recruiting locations.

All nine of USF are from Florida. There will be no fence building around Tampa for UCF as long as Taggart is around.

With all the winning going on over to the west I couldn't imagine why anyone would want to leave Tampa lol. Taggart is driving the bus straight into oncoming traffic lol who wants to win championships when you can get on that bus

We haven't had back to back losing seasons since the 2003 and 2004 seasons so I think we'll be alright. But after that in just olearys second year we won the east division of cusa in 2005. Recruiting is only part of the battle. Gotta be able to develop that talent into championship caliber players. Which is something usf has never been able to do and we've gotten pretty good at.

GOL is the worst. We'll probably have 17-18 signees again.

SMU is currently ranked higher on rivals. I wouldn't count out UCF, usf, Cincinatti, or Boise State either. All have a chance to finish with a big class and land some big fish. A little too early to be declaring yourselves the best g5 class no matter what don't ya think lol? Historically, atleast for UCF, all of our high profile commits come between November and February.

How many are going to sign on the dotted line. Every year, we lose 3 or 4 four stars over the course of recruiting.

RE: 2016 Class - Football
USF could be tricky. Once again Taggart is reeling in quality recruits, the question is what happens if the season brings another losing season and he gets can, how will that affect the recruits.
This is a big year for USF football
