I wonder what the trend would be if they looked at it from an angle of black people who've moved from one place to another. There's a special mindset that a person who moves away from home to another location has.

My son and I follow the worldwide rugby sevens circuit, going to the US stop in February and occasionally hitting an overseas stop (Dubai, London, Tokyo), and over the years have become fans of the Kenya team (particularly when Mike Friday was coaching them, they played a very entertaining style, although Friday is now coaching the US). We typically move and sit with the Kenya fans when they are playing, because the energy among their supporters is amazing, and have made lots of Kenyan friends, mostly Kenyan expats who have come to the US and made enough money that they can follow the circuit as well. We were amazed at how much disgust they have for the behavior of African-Americans. One guy have gotten to know pretty well says, "I grew up in a mud hut and now I own a software firm. I have no use for their lazy asses." It would come off as racist--except they are the same race.

What are they're thoughts on American racism.

I wonder what your African friend says about the black people here who are doing well. I wouldn't be surprised if he were completely unaware that we exist.

Most of the taxi drivers where I live are from various African countries and they don't go into the hood (or avoid it). Next time I will ask them why.


You are aware that there is racism/colorism among African countries / people. No you probably are not aware of this.

Of course I'm aware of it. I just wonder if their attitudes would change if they experienced it first hand. American racism is unique.

I live near a major university and a smaller HBCU and many of the professors end up being a patient where I work. Of all the current/former professors who are black that come to our clinic, only 1 is a black American and the rest are African immigrants.

Not that this proves anything, but it's just something I've noticed over the past few years.

Like I said, American racism is unique.

Racism is racism, if you think your clan/ethnic group is superior to
others it is what it is. Where else have to lived besides Texas? How would you know?

It's not the skin color, it's education. If a person is educated and comes to America, they have a much better chance at making it than the kid of an uneducated American.

I do a lot of work across Africa. Most Africans are downright insulted to be associated with 'African Americans.'

I think anyone looking to move toward opportunity has a better chance.
