If you've ever been around any UAB event, you most likely have seen Mark Almond at work. He took home first place for sports action photography at this year's Alabama Associated Press Media Editors' Journalism Competition. His award-winning photo is a great shot of Chad Frazier getting smashed by a LA Tech player while diving for a loose ball.

Good work, Mark! You can purchase photos by Mark through AL.com as well.
