Away from the population centers on the coasts, both OR and WA are surprising rural and trend conservative.

Source? My liberal sister who lives in Portland with her inlaws living in a rural OR coastal community.

I live in eastern Washington and grew up in north Idaho. No surprise here. People in Spokane would drive on dirt roads if it meant cutting down on government and taxes.

With the state they're currently in, dirt roads would be smoother.
