Well, if the NBA "knows the game", he will be picked up by someone in the summer league and might catch on with a team.

It's rare these days for a senior aged player to be drafted.

(Here it comes 9911) I was at the LSU @ Bama game where Pete alone scored 69 points in a game LSU lost (over 200 total points were scored in that game). Pete (in his "floppy socks") was a big draw wherever he played. As you said, LSU during Pete Maravich time was not a good TEAM. Shortly after he left, they fired Press Maravich, his father, as BB coach.
That was my memory of Press Maravich as well, but when I looked it up I was surprised to find that he hung on for two more seasons at LSU after Pete graduated. In 1970–71 season his LSU team went 14–12 and during the 1971–72 season they went 10–16 after which he was fired. During his six seasons at LSU his teams compiled a record of 76–86.

Press then was hired at Appalachian St. where he spent the last three years of his career compiling a 14–63 record.

I have often heard that Press Maravich was hired at LSU only to entice his son Pete to play for the Tigers, but that rumor doesn't take into consideration that Press had complied a 38–13 record for the 1964–65 and 1965–66 seasons at North Carolina St. before taking the LSU job.

You know who was a tall basketball player.

Shawn Bradley. And to make it relevant to the thread derailment. He is white too.

Hate to break it to you codgers, Maravich was one of the greatest ball hogs of all time, not one of the greatest basketball players. He could score but he wasn't a team player and that is why his teams sucked.

But he remains the greatest "Great White Hope" of all time.

Not being a BB historian of your rank, all I can propose is the possibility that Maravich MAY have been a "ball hog" because he HAD to be on those teams. Perhaps their records would have been worse if he had shot less. I remember Chamberlain being criticized for "dishing" too much, and then when he scored 100 points in a game, other critics said he was a "ball hog". Maybe being a "ball hog" is in the eye of the beholder. Besides that, Pete was the reason a lot of fans showed up at SEC BB games in those days - he was THE drawing card and they came ro see him shoot.

Sure tell Frank the Tank, and Raheem Christmas that. Heck Delon Wright spot probably was Fraziers's same player and background somewhat.

yeah, there's a few seniors that get drafted, but the number has been going down for years. You know the NBA drafts on potential.
