Article: Football stadium next for Temple?
Here is a small article below from a realty publication that looks at a row of houses that Temple just demolished to make way for a yet to be named athletic project. There are pictures of the before and after. Also there is a map showing the huge footprint that will remain once this area is cleared in a few months.

In the Master Plan that the article mentions, Temple list plans for a new indoor football facility at a different location.

That doesn't look like enough room for a football stadium....not even for a FCS team.

The white mostly rectangular building in the light green shaded area is the football teams' indoor practice facility now. So you can judge the size based off that. It's a huge but irregular shaped plot.

They're gonna play backyard football rules, drive the field twice to score. That's what we did growing up in the city if we didn't wanna play on concrete...

Get down with your bad self Temple, show the world down and back football

Well, reading the attached comments, it seems that Temple is certainly winning many new converts in the community...

No ... the dark green small area above the white structure is the current practice facility. The white structure you are looking at above Montgomery ave is Mc Gonigle Hall which was the former bball facility.

Also item 2 is a proposed rec facility for students. That's a longer range project somewhere in the 5 to 10 year range.

The fields at area 2 and 3 are being quickly cleared out. The teams that play there now will most likely end up at a former high school site that Temple purchased a few blocks away to convert into athletic fields. The relocation of these teams and our teams playing at a suburban location is probably going to cost Temple upwards of $20 million (ouch!).

My point is that Temple is making it a high priority to clear these plots. Yet they won't say why.

thats more room than tulane had to work with. tulane built a tiny stadium thats pretty much land-locked though, but both schools have/had the same problem - an off campus huge nfl stadium.

I think you guys maybe getting a football stadium.

I think you will have enough room. Here is a picture of Yulman Stadium light test a week or so before it opened.

Starting to think the P5s goal is to make capital improvement construction companies rich.

It's cool but collectively this conference is spending billions on infrastructure and we are all still going to be stuck in a JV conference when it's said and done.

I'd rather see UC play Temple on campus than in a largely empty NFL stadium.

I respect Tulane for ponying up and making an on campus stadium happen.

You can say a lot of things about the AAC programs, but you can't say they aren't trying (UC-Nippert Upgrade, UH on campus stadium, Tulane on campus stadium, basketball upgrades for programs, practice facilities in the works, etc.).

I just wish many of us had done these things 10 years ago...hope it's not too little to late.

the other thing that sucks is because of the Obannon deal, there is no NCAA 15 and that totally sucks NCAA 14 doesn't have the upgraded/expanded Nippert, Yulman, TDECU, etc. I wish they could have JUST GOT ONE more year in before that happened.

Heck, if they made a mod you could buy as an add on featuring new stadiums and a four team playoff I would buy it in a heartbeat.
