They talked at length about the college baseball game and how big of a problem pace of play is. I watched bits and pieces, and it did move at a glacially slow place. The amount of time in between pitches was at times absurd. Baseball is typically a slow moving sport, but they've taken measures at the pro level to speed it up, including the clock in between pitches and innings. College needs to do the same.

For my part, I hope they leave the game alone. That's the trouble with things these days - everybody is in such a damned hurry. Baseball was fine as a "slow" game for 150 years. Could it be that the real reason is to compress the game so that they can squeeze more commercials into the same time frame? For those who didn't think last night's game was exciting, I don't know what to say except that I feel sorry for you.

every World Series game in the 1960s was played in less than 2 hours and 15 minutes. Some of that is commercials, some of it how the bullpen has evolved, and some is all the crap hitters do in between pitches.

Almost unwatchable. Completely unwatchable when the games are low scoring.

Just noted we left up the idea that our condescender still feels sorry for others, yet got rid of his deserved spanking for being so constantly judgmental, let alone completely wrong in his idea that baseball has historically been so slow?

Maybe if we are lucky we can read more painful you are not a good supportive fans like me color tweaks.

Yep. Growing up, baseball was my favorite sport. I can't tell you the last time I watched a non-playoff MLB game, now. It's been years.

I know there are still plenty of passionate MLB fans. But, it seems like the amount of those fans has decreased immensely in the last 5-10 years.

Baseball is a great regional sport, i.e. people watch their teams, but it no longer draws the national casual fan. Hence why the local TV deals are worth so much money in baseball despite national TV ratings being so low.

I think there is a lot of truth to that.
