I am like you in that I am a realist and have no problem pontificating about what I think will actually happen, even if it is not favorable for the home team.
However, I disagree with you regarding the Memphis/OM game this year. I certainly wouldn't bet on Memphis to win, but I wouldn't bet against them either. I think it's a winnable game if things break right. They are at home and the offense has another year under its belt. Plus, with Fuente as coach, they always have a chance.
Don't bet against the Tigers in this one.
But I have no problem with you saying what you did. Doesn't bring me down at all. Apparently, others in the thread couldn't handle it.
It depends on which team you are talking about. We might not score 24 points on the Ole Piss team that was 3-0 and on their way to going 7-0. We might score 24 points on the Ole Piss team that ended their D1 season 1-3 and gave up 31 points per game, only scoring 16 points per game.

They may be looking past our Tigers as they have TA&M the next week at home.

Good point.
We were sandwiched in between road trips to Virginia and Texas for UCLA.

They are going to have a very good defense, but their quarterback situation is downright scary. Their projected starter Ryan Buchanan threw 22 passes all of last season, and struggled during the spring game.
Quote:If Buchanan was the leader going into the Grove Bowl on Saturday, Kelly did all he could to close the gap.
Buchanan completed five of his 16 passes for 49 yards, zero touchdowns and one pick on Saturday, while Kelly completed nine of his 19 for 104 yards, one touchdown and one pick, according to stats released by the school.
The highlight for Kelly was a 43-yard touchdown strike to Taz Zettergren to get the scoring started.
Granted, it is the spring game and it was against what will be a very good defense, but there honestly is a little more than a glimmer of hope.

Good Lord Tiger Fans.....I am probably one of the biggest homers on this board but please remember that OM was the number #2 ranked team in the country.
Do I believe they are top 10? Hell no
Do I believe their program far exceeds ours? Hell yes
Sec $$$
Vs
CUSA/American $$$$
The welfare Chaco alone is 30x what we receive with our bowl and tv money
I've said this for years and I will continue to say this until Memphis is truly in a BCS conference.....WE should NEVER ever ever schedule an SEC team.
The best way to break up the BCS cartel is for the mid majors to say SCREW YOU and don't play the big boys for $$$$ games
This is the only leverage we have
If our group left the current D1 format it would ROCK the elite programs
AAC TV Contract
$2.5 million per year per team
55,000 Vs Ole Piss @ $40/ticket
$2.75 million
750 Ole Piss fans buying season tickets @ $300
$250,000
Total Ticket Revenue From Ole Piss Game
$3 million
30,000 Vs. Buy Game @ $20/ticket
$600,000 - payout
It is what it is.
Totally agree about the money thing BUT take OM off the schedule and insert MTSU.
What effect would there be vs. a 13-0 Memphis squad and a 12-1 team (for bowl purposes)?
Don't think it would change. Tigers would still likely get the top G5 slot - and no way we get a slot in the top 4 playoff.
One thing against beating OM is we won't have Bad Bo to help out - but I think we can still win.
Only way for us to make the playoff is for us to go 13-0 and for Ole Miss to Win the SEC championship game.

TCU sure didn't have any trouble with the vaunted Ole Piss defense ... just saying ... of course we'll have SEC refs and they don't take kindly to someone giving the greatest conference in civilized history a smackdown.
playing the game @ Ole Prius...we'd have AAC refs...not SEC.
We had SEC refs last year. They had a Ole Prius player commit a penalty..and get ejected from the game. Problem is...Ole Prius sent out the WRONG player.
Even when the mistake was brought out to the light of day...the SEC did NOTHING to Ole Prius for penalizing the wrong player.

It was 7-3 in the fourth quarter. Despite the final score, that was a close hard fought game.

yes Ole Miss is better, but we get them at home in the middle of the season. Early kinks should be ironed out and we have an offense that actually moves. I think we have as good a chance at beating them as any other time recently.

Yep plus we were driving and turned it over. Their 7 was on one play.

I worry about our chances against Navy. It is hard to prepare for an option team. I'll worry about it more on game day though...

Stopping the option is very easy if everyone can be diciplined enough to stick to their individual assignment every time no matter where the ball goes. Most teams have trouble stopping it because they can't stay disciplined. Guys think they can out smart it.
