Pardon me if I'm still more afraid of Islamic terrorists. Islamic terrorists work in actual groups and have a lot more ability and willingness to seek out resources beyond an every-day civilian firearm…and not to mention can get backing from governments or at least people on government sympathetic to them.

The bigger issue with the analysis than numbers is that the negative consequences of Islamist violence is far far different than that of local radicals. The economic expense for a single attack like the Boston Marathon bombings is far, far greater than the cumulative total of local radicals. The political implications of most of these incidents are negligible compared to Islamist violence. And Islamist violence in other countries absolutely transforms societies in ways that racist violence here in the US would never do.

This analysis reduces the comparison to "number of deaths" when the calculus of number of deaths is only a relatively small part of the risk and consequences of Islamist violence.

So you can't count American military members who have been killed in ongoing conflicts in Iraq and Afghanistan?

the article is probably referring to civilians. And the military guys being killed have been sent over there to fight and be shot at. Totally different.

There are about 16,000 murders each year in the USA out of a population of 300,000,000.

Assuming one murderer per murder, that makes about 0.005% of the population responsible for murders in the USA each year. You can modify that by claiming a larger number of people responsible for each murder, or you can multiply it out by the average lifetime of, say, 80 years. But it still doesn't come close to giving you a number that allows you to support whatever agenda it is that you wish to pursue.

He did not say what he instead wished to imply. I don't think you're incorrect.

What he did say - without being brazen enough to name the population as black - is that the entire black population is responsible for those murders, not that they were all murderers.

Just summarizing what O'Reilly and Michael Meyers , a NY Civil Rights Exec. Director covered a few days ago on the show. Those were their facts and percentages.
