That's why I said in some other thead that I always take anything a politician says with a grain of salt. Haley has her eyes on a national office someday, so she's just pandering. It's all politics.

She must be running for VP or President because she's likely committed career suicide in South Carolina. All she needs to do is send a search party and see if they can find former Governor David Beasley. He was far more popular than Haley in-state before he ram-rodded the existing compromise on the flag and his political career ended when he term-limited out of the Governor's office.

Haley's home House district is held by Joe Wilson and she ain't beating Joe. I had thought she might go after Lindsey's Senate seat but she probably ended the chances of that, and she ain't beating Tim Scott. She's pretty much alienated herself from a large portion of her electoral base in SC so she'll have to run for one of the top two spots.

I just got back from a meeting with five State Legislators. It is going to get ugly. Could get very ugly for Nikki in the long run.

He noted that SC has had a very favorable economic climate and this has resulted in many businesses already relocating to SC. But he said that in the past, some business leaders told him that they were reluctant to move to SC because of the flag issue.

Now that issue is gone, expect a boom in growth.

Lindsey Graham made mention of this as well. In a few years, SC will be glad they did it.

Cost Roy Barnes his job but Georgia is glad that it did.

Exactly, in a few years, people are going to feel silly for being upset about this.

I interpreted that as Georgia is glad Roy Barnes did something that cost him his job. 04-cheers

Figured it would. Remember that David Beasley was considered a rising star in the GOP and it was the original compromise that ended that. Hard to be a rising star when your foundation crumbles beneath you.

Like I said elsewhere, I have felt all along that Lindsey saw the writing on the wall and knew that when she term limits out she:
A. Wasn't going back to the State House
B. Wasn't going to challenge Joe Wilson in the House as a Lexington resident
C. Can't move back to Bamberg to run because it's Clyburn's gerrymandered district
or
D. Run against Tim Scott

The only logical choice is finally giving Lindsey a legitimate primary challenger. IMHO that's why he threw his hat in the ring for President. For the first time since he beat Alex Sanders for the seat he would face a legitimate challenger in Haley and he knows he would have likely get beat. He knows he doesn't stand a chance in hell at President, but if he can make a good enough showing it may lead to a spot on the ticket as VP, or at the worst a cabinet position. Any of that has to be better than going back to Central and trying to run for Pickens County Council.
