Josh Sitton, Dominic Ignelzi, etc., what's the matter with you guys? First half, you played great . . . where'd you go in the second half?

In the first half we looked like a top 40 team. Offense fizzled again in the second half. Somehow we still pulled off the win. If we don't fix this problem this week, then we just might lose the Memphis game, badly. :john:

They brought the pain, we didn't answer back.

I'm not so sure we blame this on Sitton or Ignelzi. They were listed as backups last night, along with Dan Veenstra and Sean Gihuly???? From what I understand it was the starters who remained during the 3rd quarter massacre!

Somebody noted that the veterans were called in during our final drive when Kevin Smith was able to march down the field and put us in field goal range. I don't know if that is true or not though.

If GOL lets the 2 true freshman and 1 RS freshman who start remain in the game while Memphis walks all over us, that may be it for me and this season. I'm tired of O'leary treating his first 2-years as 'preseason'! I understand he wants to build for the long-term, but we need to WIN now, and if that involes gving the young guys less real-game reps, so what??! :bang:

bottom line is...we did win now...2 in a row as a matter of fact. however, you are right...when we step up to play teams like Memphis...we better go with the best players and not worry about developing depth! 04-cheers

What is really troublesome is that there is so much we don't know. I know that when I went to practices at the beginning of the season, Gillhully was by far the best lineman and best leader on the team. Now he's barely playing? I don't get it. Veenstra was one of the better linemen also.

I have a ton of questions...

What's up with Clerance Howard? We heard so much before the season and I don't think I've seen him on the field. Is he getting redshirted?

What happened to Jason Peters?
What happened to Shane Smith?

We have a lot of Freshmen getting a lot of playing time. That's good. But I'm curious if the older guys are being shut out, which is not good. There's just a ton of questions that aren't getting answered.

I heard Gary Parris call their names once or twice during the radio broadcast. I don't think they should take sole blame, though. The entire o-line has to function well together as a unit, not as individuals.

Well, the young offensive line MANHANDLED Memphis this weekend, so we may have our answer. Granted, they played with 2 TEs the whole night, but they still dominated. They've grown up quickly!
