Yes, some of us knew about it at the BBQ. It's interesting that this stayed out of the press as long as it did. At the BBQ, Ted listed him among the players having to miss because of classes and other commitments.

He had another commitment, all right.

bottom line, there isn't a school that hasn't had these types of problems -- even Notre Dame (watch the Hunting Ground). JMU ju. Did this not happenst dismissed 3 players, including a starter from Chesapeake.

Did this not happen ever at the JUCO JD attended? Did it happen and the staff and coaches there cover for him. From what I hear, our coaches do an enormous amount of background checking on recruits. But it's hard to imagine that nothing ever happened with this guy until he got to ODU, and then bing, bing, bing. I liked where the kid's game was headed, but if what we've read is true, and the whole story, losses must be cut

After nearly 40 posts on this thread, there is not a single one attempting to justify or minimize the actions of JD. That is what the ODU fan base looks like.

Compare that to the approach of the VCU fan base, which not only made excuses for Briante Weber's larceny, but also made a target of the victim. Not all of their posts did so, but a substantial number of them. That is what the VCU fan base looks like.

What? Nobody was targeting the victim in Briante Webers case. That was Mo Alie-Cox's case where a female accused him of punching her in the face. The police and bouncer refused to prosecute, so she went downtown and filed the MISDEMEANOR charge based on her own affidavit. The charge didn't look right from the start, and of course video showed up showing Mo was no where near the altercation.

As far as Briante, he stole an iPhone from a locker and received pre-trial intervention and restitution like any other FIRST time offender. The reason most on here are not trying to defend Javonte Douglas is because this is his 3rd incident (all VIOLENT). Apparently ODU didn't know, or didn't want to know about his Clarendon incident.

It's easy to now have a high moral compass and claim the odu fans are better, bow that it's his 3rd strike and he violated probation. I believe many on here were defending him during the dorm room violent episode last summer. Comparing that to Briante's non-violent misdemeanor charge (which was dropped) and the fans' take on message boards would be comparing apples to oranges.

Because there was no fighting. He restrained her and escorted her out of HIS APARTMENT after failing to do so on her own account after being asked multiple times to leave. Its alright, we know your beloved sheep are all angels.

We most certainly do. And when it is 18-24 year old athletes that romping around inside those houses, that glass often seems pretty thin.

The difference, in my own personal opinion, is that ODU fans on the whole have enough self awareness to recognize the "glass house" syndrome. VCU fans on the whole do not.

Hey Adopted Monarch, you missed my point since I didn't spell it out. I cringed because someone started a thread with the title Feces U in it and folks went on to talk about how horrible VCU was, their players etc. etc. etc. Myself and others on here had already heard about the Douglass trouble and knew it would just be a matter of time before it all came out in the public. It was just bad timing to start that thread and that's why I cringed.

I cringed because the whole Ali-Cox controversy smelt like bullschit from the beginning. If I have learned one thing in 36 years it is that a woman going to the media leveling accusations on a man, 99% of the time she is lying.

What I would like to see is the VCU clowns off our site. You say one word ODU over on Ramnation and they swarm on you like flies on ****. They get their punches and words in but as soon as you say something back to them, they ban you and delete you. Soft ass fragile sheep.

The big reason why VCU fans have become even worse is their Final Four run. After 2011 their fan base exploded with little "funny" art kids who don't know SH** about basketball. No tradition whatsoever, just newbie fans who jumped on during or after the ride. Could talk for hours about Shaka and his bald head but when it came down to discussing history or X's and O's they stare at you like a deer in the headlights. What a solid fan base that is...

So true. The average VCU moron understands only 3 parts of basketball; the dunk, the trey and the blocked shot. The rest is a complete mystery to them.
