Any discussion of football, or was it all basketball?

It was a great idea, but something I did not think they could continue indefinitely. It was a good introduction to the new coach. They need to repackage it somehow into something else though. There should always be some sort of kickoff for basketball season. It is good for the fans and it is a good recruiting tool.

I didn't mean for it to sound like it was going away... Haase made it a point to say HOTH is a huge recruiting tool for us & we will keep building on it. If we have to scale back one year then he'd rather not do it at all. That said, they are brainstorming ways to make it bigger & even more over-the-top, including a possible new location (Lot 15A will been gone before we know it).

Mark Ingram said we should hear something within the next week or two from the NCAA & on the contract. Lots of moving parts depending on each other right now is the best way to describe it.
Ingram said that the NCAA is known for taking its time. The good news for us is that the NCAA is being very "unbureaucratic" with our situation, which is a good thing for us.

I'm hoping he's talking about not being able to do the lighting graphics on the floor at this point. If we didn't even get the ability to turn the lights off for intros out of this I'll be pretty disappointed.

Dimmable lights for this season, more bells & whistles down the road. He also mentioned a louder sound system and flashier videos/graphics.

Just curious as to what "dimmable" means. We do need lights that turn on and off with the flick of a switch just like they do inside our homes.

Some CFL, and perhaps mercury and sodium vapor bulbs come in packs that say "Not dimmable" - they are to be only "off" or "on". Some must be allowed to "warm up" (an old radio term) before they can reach maximum lumens. As I understand Arc lights, often used outside, they are immediately bright.
(It is said that Noah was the first electrician since he "made the ark light on Mt Ararat".)

Lights will go off for intro... Haase said he wants the music louder & wants you to "get chills" because the intro is so good.

all new LED lights in Bartow and they are fully dimmable, can be turned off completely and back on instantly, something that was never possible with old lights. great idea on exterior lighting.

Any word on jersey changes? Green, gold, and white/black Birmingham jerseys with the chevron or whatever the old arrow under Gene was called. Green, gold, and white/black UAB jerseys with blaze on the shorts? Dragon scales?

Haase & Ingram were both impressed that so many folks showed up for a basketball event in June. We filled every seat in the venue at Vulcan & the coaches gave up their table so every fan could have a seat. Not bad for 5:30.
