Huh... maybe i got my source's words mixed up. What they said to me makes an awful lot more sense when referencing this...

"Schedule at least one non-conference opponent from the “Power 5” conferences both home and away for at least 50% of our sports programs by 2018"

Looking forward to Vanderbilt tennis, Washington State gymnastics and Iowa State baseball in DeKalb.

(Sorry, a bit cynical today)

I like putting plans to paper as you can hold people responsible for failure and reward them for success. Nothing was outrageous as far as I can tell but of course I haven't the foggiest idea which of those goals are easy to accomplish versus low hanging fruit versus feel-good versus 'yeah, that'll never happen....."

I personally would have liked to see an overall Athletics performance goal of Top 3. NIU is a damn good school with impressive facilities located down the street from fertile recruiting grounds and there is no reason a dumpster fire of a school like Kent or Central Michigan or Akron should consistently place above NIU in Athletics standing.

RE: 2015-18 Athletics Strategic Plan
"Identify a minimum of two projects from the Athletics Facilities Master Plan to create
facilities that meet requirements for hosting conference, NCAA, and post-season competition.
Submit annual bids to host NCAA/post-season competition."

"Secure a minimum of one naming rights partner in the 2015-2016 academic year to
establish Phase I of the Facilities Master Plan."

I think significant progress on the Facilities Master Plan will go a long way to improving the athletic department

Has NIU in the past 10 years hosted the MAC softball tournament? It would make complete sense to have it done first with the East stands because I doubt it would cost much, relative to all the other plans, and it would immediately tie in and finish off the look with the new East skybox.

Actually I think that is a great thing to get P5 teams in DeKalb no matter what the sport is. I am much more interested in NIU hosting Iowa in VB much more so than any MAC or G5 team.

Which do you think looks more professional? Which do you think it looks like they put it in a word doc in 10 minutes?

I agree, one looks like the actually spent time and effort and the other could have been a copy and paste document.

Its odd that JC's first one was a bit better than his second.
