Hello,
I just wanted to share some things with you.
I am from Michigan, and last week my Dad and I traveled down to Cincinnati to watch the Tigers play the Reds. Since both games were night games we had ample time to sight see and one stop on my list was the University. Once we stopped by, we over stayed our planned time frame by a few hours.
We walked around the downtown area near Nippert, and I picked up some Bearcat gear including a football jersey and a few tee's at Dubois Bookstore. We walked around the different sports venue's (Marge Schott Stadium, the arena, and the football practice fields) and I feel in love with how easy going the campus seemed to be. I have always liked UC since I was a little kid due to their color scheme but this took it to a new level. It was a beautiful campus.
While there the football team was practicing on the practice field without coaches obviously due to NCAA rules and I enjoyed watching them. They were very organized for a player ran practice. I was disappointed knowing that Nippert was under construction as I wanted to get closer to it and even down on the field as I had heard that they allowed that. As I wore my new jersey, my Dad and I got several pictures of the field before a worker told me to try the other side as there was less clutter. Over there we were getting pictures when a construction worker came up and offered me the chance to come inside the construction for better photos and allowed me to walk with an escort around the stadium, to areas not under active construction.
I would like to return down there for a game but I'm not sure how realistic that is as I will have to return August 24th for the rained out Tigers/Reds game. I feel like the Correyville area would be electric on a game day.
Every one was so nice that I now consider UC as my second team, and I will try to watch as many of the games as I can get up here. Thank you for letting me join your community.

Welcome aboard. Campus is indeed a very informal place. I love just strolling around. Before a game three years ago some workers let me help them load drinks in the press ox and private boxes before a game. Other times I just sit in the new engineering study area and listen to today's students complain about the same things I did. Had a nice long conversation with some last time.

Thanks for sharing your experience ! Glad you felt welcomed and enjoyed your time on campus. Thats awesome the construction crew let you in for a peak . Even tho its been over 20 years since I graduated and that campus looked some much different them (100xs better now) it still feel like home every time I walk on campus .
Here's to a good game between your two favorite teams in a couple years at the big house.

Cincinnati may be first on my list, but Michigan is definitely second (I'm from outside of Detroit, so it comes with the territory)

I hate to break the news, but you could have walked across the walkway behind the north endzone and gotten a rather spectacular view of Nippert. I came down just over a week ago and got some good views and pictures of the stadium.
I was particularly happy because I had out of town guests, one who brought another friend who came here just to see the campus and stadium because her nephew will play for UC this fall (if he's not redshirted).
As far as getting directly on the field, access is one of the charms of Nippert. My kid used to beg me to go up there and play on the field during the summer time. Hotter than hell, but it was a big deal to him.

Glad that you enjoyed your visit. Cincy is a heck of town. Come back for a football game at Nippert.

Thank you everyone for the warm welcome. We were hoping to come down for a game but now they rescheduled the Tigers Reds game for August 24th so I don't know if we can make three trips down there in such a close time frame.
Does UC offer season tee shirts? I know every year Michigan makes a different tee, I was wondering if UC did that as well?

RE: New Bearcat fan
Believe it or not I know a lot of Cincinnatians who grew up hating OSU so much that they became Michigan fans. They weren't even UC football fans because UC football was painful to be a fan of until Dantonio got here.
A lot of them converted to become UC fans after we started winning, but they still root for Michigan out of sentiment. So Mr. Vannzee, you're in good company

Yeah, I see them around every year. The UC paraphernalia shops around campus should have them.

I look forward to picking up more UC swag when I come back down invAugust. It's funny to see people's reactions to me wearing my new Bearcat gear up here.
I need to learn the signature chants for the Bearcats. I tried youtubing them with little to no success
