Campbell Football Magazine
What I have seen we have no players on the 1st, 2nd and 3rd team all Texas team in the magazine and we have two players from the best 300 in Texas, Desharam Newsome and Paxton Sequina based on Rivals. All our players to date are 2 star. I hope it gets better.

We need to nationalize our recruiting more, end of. I'm not even going to put it on other schools now. We know what we can control, so let's get it done. We have quite a bit to offer potential recruits, because a Rice education is worth an awful lot.

It takes a LOT of money to "nationalize" recruiting. Way more than is in our budget.

Texas has the most number of top recruits in the US. I don't understand why we can't get our share of top recruits. We have been successful going to bowl games but these are second tier bowls. We will never get our "signature" win if we only getting two star recruits.

Rice seems to have expanded it's recruiting footprint the last few years. Not hat long ago all the recruits were from Texas, the roster is more diverse now. Seems like it would make sense to focus on a few more states without necessarily having to recruit the entire nation. Maybe some states with a high density of recruits and/or states that are fairly close to Texas who do not have an in-state university with a Rice-quality academic reputation.

RE: Campbell Football Magazine
In the same magazine there is an interesting article titled "Go Big or Go Home" that ranks the performance of the 2010 recruiting class who recently graduated. The ranking uses a 100 point scale that considers both individual and team performance. It takes into account multiple factors including varsity letters, All Conference and All America awards, team victories, conference championships, Bowls, Top 5 poll finishes and NFL draft picks, etc...This is the the 15th year Dave Campbell has prepared this review. Of the 10 FBS Texas schools(UTSA and Texas State were not FBS schools in 2010) Rice is ranked SECOND behind Texas A&M. Very interesting assesment of how the 2010 recruiting class fared and I think a great recruiting tool to share with new recruits and their parents. Thoughts??

Also released their All-Texas College Team:
Offense- Jowan Davis and Andrew Reue both second team
Defense- Alex Lyons - first team
Ryan Pollard - second team

Louisiana is loaded with talent. I don't think we can steal many from Florida or California.

Look at TCU's 2015 recruiting class - Just TWO 4 star guys. The previous ones arent that different. Go back to 2008, 2009 and 2010 and you have even less.

???
At this point our recruiting is nowhere near TCU's.
Literally just 1 two-star guy: https://rivals.yahoo.com/tcu/football/re...mmitments/

At this point, yes. Back when TCU first rose to prominence, we were a whole lot closer. even now, TCU beats up on some of the bigger boys with way more 4 and 5 start recruits than they have.

Point is, the 2 star recruits we have aren't the reason that Louisiana Tech racked up 76 on us. Or that we couldnt beat ND and their 87th ranked Pass defense last year.

RE: Campbell Football Magazine
Given how many players we are sending to the NFL/CFL, it begs the question: are we recruiting 2* players and our staff is developing and coaching (aka, couching) them up, or are the recruiting services are criminally under-rating our recruits? The truth might be somewhere in between. Speaking of recruits, it appears that the class of 2015 is on campus.

Speaking of recruits...the 2015 freshman class has reported. Coach Bailiff tweeted a picture of 20 freshman. 20. I thought that we only signed 18. Anyone know who the other two are?
