Muller and Haynes were 3stars... now 2stars
125th class in the nation.

When Haynes picked us over Cinci he dropped to 2. Just more chips on shoulders.

Like I said before many times....this coaching staff is not getting it done. After a couple years in the middle of CUSA, this year we dropped significantly. We should have had a much stronger class following a Bowl win.

I think getting a kid to pick us over Cinci is getting it done so not sure I follow you're reply to my post. The kid dropped from a 3 to a 2 after he picked lowly ODU. Stars mean little below a 4 star. 10 wins means more.

Missing the big picture.....if I am not mistaken we beat only 1 maybe 2 teams with a winning record and got hammered by everyone else. 6th place in recruiting is good enough for top 5 in CUSA but it won't get it done to win Championships ! Now add we fell to 13th and that trend is not good especially if we follow this class up with another poorly rated class. Also Marshalls recruiting class all depends on if they qualify.

We got hammered by 3 teams and hammered 9 teams.

Western Kentucky was a top 25 team this past year.

2012- 7th
2013- 8th
2014- 6th
2015- 11th
2016- 7th

In other words, high ratings don't automatically mean success. Don't put too much stock in a ratings website that alters the rating of a recruit based on the school they chose. That alone should tell you all you need to know about ratings.

I put very little stock in 247 as a rating service. They do a good job of compiling information on recruits as far as videos and offers but i would certainly value the evaluation of our coaches over anything 247 has to say. They built a 10 win team last year out of FCS recruits (Washington and Pascal), former walk-ons (Ricks, Wilson, Rotimi, Addison, and Fulham), lightly recruited studs (Coward and Duhart), and underclassmen (too many to list). I'm sure i left several names off of these lists worth mentioning. Regardless of who our opponents were, i imagine the guys they were putting on the field were rated higher coming out of high school by 247 than most of the guys i have listed.

You are onto something there and like everyone already repeated these rankings don't say much.

Wilder also reiterated that this year was a small recruiting class, and that they went after specific needs. I think we'll be fine.

Talked with HS players about this issue all the time. I don't want to overstate this but I would think some of you folks would be stunned at what these youngsters post on social media sites. In some cases it is not simply things to cause them to lose a scholarship but stuff that could get them arrested. For many young people today the days of internal filters are long gone. Alas, there can be a big cost for that.
