Cuse's New AD Looks To Be a Home Run
Hired Boise States AD...great hire...only drawback is little Northeast exposure in resume.

RE: Cuse's New AD Looks To Be a Home Run
I was watching a Yankee game and saw a Syracuse sign: "SYRACUSE - NEW YORK'S COLLEGE TEAM". It's debatable whether NY has just one college team; as we've pointed out here ad nauseum, NY is a fractured college market, dominated by pro sports. And Syracuse is a private school four or five hours away. But as a marketing major, I think the sign and that marketing strategy are very smart. It is: a) simple, and b) has just enough truth in it to be credible. It's exactly what I would do if I were selling the Syracuse brand.

The new guy should keep and expand this strategy.

He does look like a home run. Matches perfectly with Herman Frazier, the Human Balk.

Their claim is probably accurate technically. Syracuse probably is the most popular college team in New York that is ACTUALLY from new york

True...it is New York's College Team.

Hopefully, he can schedule us 3 out of 4 OOC wins a year in FB...we have played too tough of an OOC schedule while being down. The 2012 team was a Top 25 team that never had a chance to be a Top 25 team.

Another article on the hire

I hope the new AD does very well. It is often difficult to deal with different cultures.

True...one of the charters for the search committee was someone who would fit well into Upstate NY. It sounds like he does. He isn't afraid of snow.

Boise doesn't have baseball. Syracuse doesn't have baseball. Not much of a culture shock coming.

Idaho has Snow and Yogurt...so does Central NY.

Both schools feature Orange and Blue

Unfortunately Cuse just installed a new green turf a few days ago.

His biggest charter will be to keep SU Hoops at the top thru probation, grow Cuse FB into a Top 25 team, raise money to redo or replace the Dome

No doubt...that would be huge.

Hard to say this is a good hire when this is the guy under who's watch Boise's athletic musical chairs game was play, relegating the non-football programs as decisive second-class citizens and pulled a dead-beat card with the AAC, trying to leave without paying, getting sued, then counter-suing.

Maybe's he's a good match for the other sue-happy types in the ACC, or he'll really work to get Syracuse football back onto a consistent path, but as an overall program director? Well, we shall see.

This article below sez one of your assertions is not based in fact. The AAC fell apart after Louisville left...and the TV dollars were not there. He delivered a special deal for his G-5 team from the MWC. I think the best of MWC and AAC will have to merge eventually to survive but the timing was not right in '12 +'13.

I don't know if Syracuse would be able to join Hockey East. Even if they don't, I bet all 12 schools would do a home and home with Syracuse ... that's 24 games right there. And I'm sure some Big 10 teams would also schedule Syracuse.

There would be no shortage of games.
