If UAB football returns to Legion Field and once again can't get prime seating money for the 2,000 best seats (sec 10 & 11), does it really matter to its "bottom line"? If a season ticket is $200, the amount lost by UAB could be $200 X 2,000 seats and that is without any premium on 50 yard line seats. Can that amount of money make any difference to UAB FB?
As certain members have asked in other contexts "What part of "illegal" do you not understand?

You are trying to further a discussion with a point that has already been proven invalid. UAB makes money off those seats; I am living proof. You lost the debate.

Get back to me when you purchase in advance seats in sec 10 or 11 up to row 30 at full face value. My grandfather was able to purchase Canadian and Scottish whisky (he was partial to Haig & Haig pinch bottle) in B'ham during the 1920s, but that didn't make his purchases legal.

This whole point is just plain asinine. UAB sells 20k tickets in a 70k seat stadium. 2000 seats not being available is meaningless regardless of location.

+1 I have never once understood the significance of this matter except for the small oddity that those seats were once offered by contract sale by the parks board. Those seats have always been available for UAB football games, I doubt if they had been available for sale by UAB at a price reflecting their allegedly once high value, they would have been bought in high numbers, as one could still walk to the section once inside and sit there, as I and many others have done many times.

Can we please, please, please just agree to disagree about the stupid certificates and never, ever, ever talk about them again? Please?

I guess you could say some people invested in Legion Field and are owed seats for any and all events held there. The tickets the city buys each year kind of compensates for those stadium certificates.

According to the Park Board letter I copied for BT fans at the radio show on Valley Ave., there are only 26,000 TOTAL seats - east AND west stands - at Legion Field between the goal lines. If there are 13,000 per side, then we are talking about SCs covering a little over 3,000 (sec 10, 11 and Gold Seats) of these 13,000 west sideline seats, not 70,000. The 26,000 number is from the Park Board, not me (they said there had been 35,000 with the upper deck). What fraction is 3,000+ of 13,000?
I bring this up only to add to our reasons for desiring to move to the MPF or to the OCS where we can sell ALL the seats at our prices.
