RE: Blackhawks
Rocky Wirtz has done a pretty good job of proving that his old man was an idiot.

RE: Blackhawks
Bringing the Stanley Cup for photo-ops at a NIU home game would be pretty cool...

It needs to be brought to a basketball game. We need a decent crowd for at least one game during the season.

RE: Blackhawks
The Hawks have always had a good amount of fans, but there were LOTS of people who were disgusted by the way old man Wirtz treated the team and the fans, so they refused to support them. I know my core group of friends back in the early to mid 90's LOVED the hawks, but when they were run into the ground and still had the highest ticket prices, we decided to watch the Wolves, since they treated their fans well and we could afford to go to games in High School. I think when they become average again, they'll still have a solid fan base as long as the organization treats the fans well.

Agreed, just saying its at this mass hysteria point right now...I personally try but just can't find interest in hockey, but I don't knock it..just very much seems like the "cool thing" to do for 20 year olds

We wear the same colors. How about the first home game, when we raise our most recent MAC Championship flag?
Are there any Blackhawks with NIU/DeKalb connections?

This is so true. I still went to a few games in the dark years. I never game up on the team, but I couldn't financially support Dollar bill. I was just waiting for the team to go to Rocky, Peter was never going to get it.

RE: Blackhawks
Because of the tie in with WGN, Blackhawk team members normally make an appearance at the first Wildcat home football game. McDonough understands the value of cross promoting the franchise, have to believe he'd be interested in building a relationship with NIU. What would be even better would be Frazier and the NIU staff unveiling the MAC Football CHampionship title flag at an early season Black Hawks game and taking part in the Shoot the Puck promotion between periods.
Doing cross promotional work with the Wolves is a winning idea also. They draw 8K per game and do much better on Saturday nights. Wolves home opener is Sat 10/10 at 7pm, depending on when the Huskie home game with BSU is scheduled, Frazier and the coaching staff should make an effort to get to Allstate and unveil the MAC Football Championship Flag. If that doesn't work, Wolves have a Sat home game 11/21, Huskies don't play till 11/24.
