RE: Colleges And Universities That Added Or Dropped Their Football teams
William Woods is adding football and women's flag football.

They are in the NAIA, and the AMC but the AMC doesn't sponsor football, so they will be looking for a conference to affiliate with.

https://www.victorysportsnetwork.com/Cli...otball.htm

They are in Fulton, MO, and have enrollment of about 1600. They were a women's college until 1997.

The university was named for the late William S. Woods, president of the National Bank of Commerce, a major benefactor to the school and a man with a serious pair of mutton-chop sideburns.

This went unnoticed but after the 2019/2020 season, Valley Forge Military College dropped all their sports including football. They are no longer on the NJCAA's website. Only the 9th to 12th grades have sports.

I'd wager they will affiliate with the Commonwealth Coast Conference.

I’m glad you are here. I know a lot of conferences at all levels, but east coast D3 leagues are a lot to keep track of. There’s so many, and so many that also have some overlap geographically.

Andrew College out of the NJCAA, will Start Football right Away.

I could see them going four year since they are a private school, and they are accredited by SACS.

Central Georgia Technical College will also join the GCAA in the fall elevating their club football team to full varsity status.

Andrew already offers a number of Bachelor degrees, so “changing over” to a 4 year school will be largely ceremonial at this point, and likely coinciding with the elevation of athletics.

In addition to football, they are also adding wrestling and a competitive cheer program. So far, both the new football and wrestling coaches have deep NAIA connections.

Central Georgia Tech College seemed to offer some types of 4 year degrees as well in nursing and the type. Could those two go to 4 year together and join Abraham Baldwin? Central Georgia Tech is a public in Warren Robbins Georgia.

Another one to look out at is Georgia Warhawks aka Georgia Christian Community College that could get into the NJCAA. They are a branch of the Christian Community College out of California. They registered their first win against Hocking in football this year.

They have bigger problems than dropping football. The school may not exist next fall.

They may not be playing football, but in that article sounds like they may not be fielding a school next year either.

Yep. Given the school looks at least 50/50 to be closed, it was a wonder how they'd even field a football team. It's a sad hit to the CIAA as they've been a member since 1933 and were one of the early HBCU programs.

I would imagine that football contributed to the dire straits of the school. That school has been struggling for many years, but like many, it doggedly clung to its football team to what seems like the bitter end.

They were spending $292,686 on football. The school's financial problems were in the several millions. Football was a tiny drop in the bucket.

Mismanagement in the school itself. Wasn't the athletics department. Several HBCU schools lost their accreditations in recent years as well.

The school is down to 1,200 kids. Football might have made up 15% of their male enrollment. For a lot of smaller schools, even if the sports programs aren't generating revenue through ticket sales/media deals, they generate revenue by enrolling students.
