NIU students to get community tours during orientation

DEKALB, Ill. -- Prospective Northern Illinois University students will get the chance to better learn DeKalb County under a new partnership between the university and a visitors' bureau.
The (DeKalb) Daily Chronicle reports ( http://bit.ly/1GEWZeJ) that families of incoming NIU students will get a free hour-long tour of the county. Three bus trips around DeKalb and Sycamore last week marked the start of the partnership between the university and the DeKalb County Convention and Visitors Bureau.
Keesha Williams is the assistant director of orientation and family connections. She says the tours will become a staple for student orientations.
The highlights of the tour include DeKalb's Egyptian Theatre and prominent local officials will serve as tour guides. That includes DeKalb Mayor John Rey and DeKalb Fire Chief Eric Hicks.

Good deal. Hopefully this will lead to fewer NIU students not giving a damn about the town where their university is located.

I wonder of Keesha Williams is part of the Eddie Williams family tree?
