I think that is a good point.

Most Hokies I have met are good people and are simply victims of misinformation and propaganda.

From my perspective, living and working in the Hokieville area, I would agree with the earlier comments that their fans are seriously worried we are gaining on them. They have certainly slid in recent years on the field and UVA has not improved. So, some of the leakage is going ODU's way. When we were FCS, they never worried about us. Even when we decided to moved up to FBS, they still didn't worry too much. Now, I think reality is setting in that, just maybe, their domain is being attacked. And of course, they don't like it. This is why they stole Zohn from us - to try and stop the tide from rolling our way. But to think us scheduling camps with PSU and UM is a direct attack on them, now that's being paranoid or down right arrogant. I guess, no surprise there.

I read that entire post and the comments and I don't see what the problem is with us holding a summer camp with B1G schools. From the context with their comments, it appears to me chokie nation is mad because we are trying to make a name for ourselves and we are trying to make ourselves more competitive by sleeping with B1G schools. Like someone is the other thread about this said, you become who you hang around with...

If they were completely ignoring us, I'd be worried. I think we're in a good place.

Exactly. If anything, we are starving their chances at having any depth.

I think this hurts ECU more than anyone.

Tech can still come in and pick off four star players. ECU may need to go find another recruiting base.

Sure. But I'm talking about the time since our inaugural season. A lot of the local guys playing for us used to go to VT blindly, sit for a few years, make an impact on their special teams and emerge as talented contributors as upper classman. Now, they can come here and start from day one. We may not be the only contributing factor (London's skill as a recruiter, FSUs and Clemson's reemergence as national powers, Duke becoming a quality program, and their inability to find a true ACC quality QB among others) to their downturn but we have definitely helped.

The argument is moot until Beamer retires. They currently suck, have sucked for a few years, and will continue to suck, at least until Beamer leaves.

Considering that they've only ever been good under him, I'm not sure him retiring will make much of a difference. Tennessee fans thought the same thing when they wanted Fulmer gone. It took them almost a decade between Fulmer and now to reemerge as a contender in the SEC.

Possibly, but he did improve the brand significantly. As long as he doesn't kill it before retiring they have a shot.

Agreed. But if they make a bad choice, they could be down for a long time. It'll be one of the most important hires in that school's history.

Wow they have twice as many recruits coming as they originally planned and had to shut down registration at 1,000. Will have 175 coaches from 43 schools. Every CAA school is represented. What a great opportunity for these players. Has to be one of the biggest FB camps on the East Coast.
