and don't forget about Ron Whitcomb's teaser video that he posted on YouTube of Powatan waterfront. They already know where the new stadium in going.

Molinaro has a pretty good take on the stadium situation;

+1

The Good: We will have a new stadium, with the ability to expand as needed. ( I say it should be able to expand to +70,000)

The Bad: Im a nostalgic junkie too, but we cannot bring back the past, believe me I've tried. If this is something that will benefit our school as we move forward, I'm all for it. Maybe they could use a few artifacts from the current Foreman Field and incorporate them into the new stadium, such as the section signs and the light poles, to give it yesterday's fashion sense.

The Ugly: Jim Harbaugh's man boobs at UM football summer camp.

RE: Article on Renovating Foreman Field
I think any expansion for the new stadium will come in waves, and said expansion will be dependent on our ability to maintain/grow demand. 30k is where I think the new stadium will start, and a few 5k expansion waves later I think we'll top out at 45k. I imagine those waves would play out over the course of 10 years.

I just don't see us going any bigger than 45k any time soon. Gotta keep ODU football the area's hot ticket, and its hard to do that when there are 70k of them floating around.

45K sounds like a good "final number" to me given the parking problem and inroads television will continue to make. I think schools with bigger stadiums may find in time they are more of an albatross than an advantage. Having said that, any end game that contemplates a figure less than 45K would, in my opinion, not be wise.

45k appears to be optimal in terms of efficiency IMO. I hadn't even considered the parking problems, but that is an excellent point. It will be hard enough building adequate parking and associated transit infrastructure for the 30k base capacity. Each wave of expansion better include suitable infrastructure to suit the new capacity.

I wasn't saying to 70k all at once. I was saying in 2067, when we are playing for the National Championship, at that point is when we will need that amount of seats.

Fort story?
Hey, you said we were playing for the NC so I added a little enrichment to your post. I added a "domed underwater stadium" which apparently was fine but you are taken aback by the Fort Story location? Okay I'll play, in the spirit of fun - The military has had a harder and harder time justifying any real use for Fort Story. Just like Fortress Monroe and hundreds of other locations in time they will give it up. ODU constrained by the VA Supreme Court decision on Eminent Domain and bursting at the seems with 35,000 students starts it's new VA Beach Campus at the old Fort Story location in 2037. By 2057 the beautiful newer "Campus By-the-Sea" has super seeded the old Norfolk location. When ODU contracts for it's new stadium in 2062 (the year we lost to Notre Dame in the Nat. Semis) it is decided to build it under water (to not dispoil the beautiful ocean views) at the BEACH campus. AND, that is where we are playing in 2067 when we WIN our first National Championship. 04-rock
