2015 NBA Draft Preview (Lottery)
Here are my breakdowns of Draft Express' Lottery selections as of today:
Karl Towns – C, Kentucky
Career Role: Starting center for a good NBA team
NBA Comp: Andrew Bogut w/ a jump shot
Jahlil Okafor – C, Duke
Career Role: Go-To low block scorer
NBA Comparison: Taller Nene
Kristaps Porzingis – PF, International
Career Role: Reserve, Pick-&-Pop PF/C
NBA Comp: Channing Frye
D'Angelo Russell – CG, Ohio State
Career Role: All-Star combo guard
NBA Comp: Shaun Livingston w/ a better shot
Willy Cauley-Stein – C, Kentucky
Career Role: Starting NBA center – elite rim protector/P&R defender
NBA Comp: Tyson Chandler
Emmanuel Mudiay – CG, International
Career Role: change of pace reserve combo guard
NBA Comp: Monte Ellis, without a jump shot
Justise Winslow – SF, Duke
Career Role: Starting All-Star 2-way wing
NBA Comp: Jimmy Butler
Mario Hezonja – SF, International
Career Role: Starting SF for a good NBA team
NBA Comp: Chandler Parsons
Devin Booker – SG, Kentucky
NBA Role: Starting catch-&-shoot SG for a bad NBA team / reserve for a good NBA team
NBA Comp: Less athletic/skilled Brad Beal
Frank Kaminsky – C, Wisconsin
NBA Role: Reserve pick-&-Pop center
NBA Comp: Meyers Leonard
Cam Payne – PG, Murray State
Career Role: Reserve scoring PG for a good NBA team/ starting PG for a bad NBA team
NBA Comp: Jarret Jack
Stanley Johnson – SF, Arizona
Career Role: Starting defensive-minded wing
NBA Comp: Iman Shumpert
Myles Turner – PF, Texas
Career Role: Starting All-Star PF
NBA Comp: LaMarcus Aldridge
Kelly Oubre – SF, Kansas
Career Role: Reserve slashing wing
NBA Comp: Gerald Green
Russell, Winslow and Turner are the 3 players that I think could be big time stars. Of those 3, Turner could flop, but I really like his game...so i'm betting on him!
The top 2 picks will have solid NBA careers (barring injury) and will make a few all-star teams I'm assuming, but they won't be the "best" from this draft when we look back years from now.
The rest probably end up being solid contributors, except 2-3. I am not high on Mudiay or Porzingis. Cauley-Stein is the biggest boom/bust prospect in my opinion.
I'll post the rest of the 2nd round later along with Grizz thoughts.
Enjoy & comment!

Some of those comparisons are pretty bad. Andrew Bogut with a jumpshot. A taller Nene for Okafur. I like Booker and Winslow. I don't know if Towns and Okafur will be stars but they should both be pretty good.

Let's get real, some of these guys are going to be useless busts. My money's on Mudiay and Oubre.

the grizz are one of the worst drafting teams in the nba, if not the worst. Name the last pick they had that worked out for them. Mike Conley I guess.
Amazing, the grizz only have 3 people on the roster they drafted, an d 2 of them were drafted last year and haven't done anything

I do think Jordan Adams might end up being a starter. All he needs is more playing time but our coach apparently is allergic to rookies playing more.
Let's see what this new regime does. It's too early to pass judgement on their drafting strategies.

It is an imperfect process. The Griz are not alone on misfiring on some picks.
They made up for it by selecting a roster leading - again - to the playoffs this year and winning the first round.

Knock down shooter. Exactly what we need but he can't guard/defend anyone. He is absolutely atrocious in man-to-man defense.
