Men's Basketball Schedule 2015-16
I didn't see an existing thread, but Mason released their OOC schedule yesterday and Dec 12th at your place is when the game takes place.

would be the same day as the FCS Quarterfinals. would be interesting if we had two huge home games the same day. long way off, I know.

Na, Liberty will be a first round game again since we took them off our schedule. The number one way to get out of it is to be good enough to get a buy in the first round. Then we'd meet them at home as suggested in the quarters.

Record for fastest thread derailment? Possibly?

Ok, ok I am really, really glad Mason is back on JMU's schedule. Feel better???
We should be considered the better team which hasn't happened in a long time and should make for a good crowd.

Great that we're playing, and even getting games, with a bunch of the Va schools and neighboring states. That's how you can build some excitement for fans and students, they likely know a bunch of people from those other schools. Better, to me, than getting one "marquee" game, on the road, against a powerhouse and getting our doors blown off.

I hope we can get back to the point where we can hang with some of those power teams, but I agree that this is a nice schedule for this team. VT has a new AD (whom I believe is a JMU alum). That would be a nice team to have on our schedule.

I don't think JMU is playing UVA this year....that series is over evidently.

RE: Men's Basketball Schedule 2015-16
We need to get back to good invitationals. I remember when JMU nearly beat UNC at the Maui during Lefty's tenure. This year UNC Charlotte is playing in the Battle 4 Atlantis with Syracuse, UCONN, Michigan, Texas, Gonzaga, Washington, and Texas A&M. I'm not a $37k a year sports marketing expert but I reckon that would constitute a good national branding opportunity.
At the caravan I heard about the invitational we'll be a part of but have already forgotten the 3 other teams. Who's responsible for that kind of stuff, Brady or Bourne? Coach Deane told me summer camps are "too much work" so maybe that's true of getting into good invitationals as well. Not worth the effort.

RE: Men's Basketball Schedule 2015-16
That type of response "too much work" coupled with what I heard was an uninspiring speech to JMU fans prior to the CAA tournament game vs. Hofstra has me thinking that maybe Deane should consider the Tom Yeager retirement route. By all acounts Deane has been a great addition to the staff when they really needed him but it's a young man's game in a way and while experience is very valuable sometimes folks who have been in a field for a while become jaded and set in their ways and new energy is needed. Sorry maybe I'm off base here but when you're candid like that and make those kinds of statements and are over 60 you leave yourself open to these types of questions. OT but I noticed that Louis Rowe recently moved to an assistant position at Bowling Green.
I've always wondered about the invitationals- is it a money/budget thing that prevents JMU from throwing their hats in the ring? I agree that I'd love to see JMU in Maui, Alaska, or some of these other higher profile tournaments.

RE: Men's Basketball Schedule 2015-16
The Maui Invitational is about as big as it gets and is usually a collection of marquee teams, BCS conference teams, and Chaminade. JMU, and about 250 others schools including Richmond probably won't be going anytime soon. The only non BCS teams in recent years have been Gonzaga, Butler and Wich St.

Alaska on the other hand is probably on the table if you guys want to go play the Seawolves!
