This will be a big recruiting tool at Marshall

For people who don't like to read. This is about the academic wing for our new Indoor Athletic Facility.

Quote:*A main computer lab that seats 64;
*A 25-person classroom, equipped with a video monitor;
*A 75-seat auditorium, with video monitor;
*A "quiet" computer lounge behind glass, seating 34, equipped with several Macs because some Marshall academic curriculums require students to use Macs;
*A 12-by-22-foot "recruiting lounge" where Herd coaches and academic advisors can meet with prospects and their parents, with large windows overlooking the indoor practice field and Jeff Small Track;
*Four individual tutoring rooms that accommodate two students;
*Four group tutoring rooms that accommodate 4-6 students;
*Offices for Helton and Harless assistants Jillian Boys, AJ Hubbard, Samantha Spurlock and Ashley Parsons;
*A large workroom for the seven Harless graduate assistants.

Quote:She said one of the Harless staffers recently visited an ACC school "and she said what we have blows away its academic facility.

I actually have a niece who is a grad. asst. in the program. She says many of the athletes, guys and gals are very bright and well spoken individuals. She works with mostly football and b'ball players.

The last part of the Vision Campaign to open will be the Sports Medicine Center. Once the Sports Medicine Center is open, my hope is Hamrick either by himself or with the city locates an area to build a baseball stadium.

Once that is done I hope they start looking at replacing the Henderson Center.

I believe that's been the 'worst kept secret' order of priorities for Hamrick since day one, right?

1. Football facilities
2. Baseball stadium
3. Henderson Center replacement/extreme renovation

Enjoy your 40 point beat down on Halloween, your beat dawn next year in Huntington and the year after that and so on for the foreseeable future.

Also enjoy being beat by GA State.

There is no way you could have an extreme renovation of the Henderson Center. Not only was funds taken away from it and built incorrectly. The arena cracked down the middle in 1988, 8 years after it opened.

By the time a new arena would be complete the Henderson Center would be close to 40 years old if not older.

I think it's a consulting room for a kid and his family and the coaches to talk about coming to Marshall, with a great view. I imagine it will be like a fancy living room. Sort of a private luxury lounge. Not a place for multiple people to hang out in all the time.

The worst thing ever that Marshall and the City of Huntington ever did (well, one of the worst) was to build Big Sandy Stupidstore Arena AND the Henderson Center. They should have gone in together and built one facility. It would've been so much better...not to mention upkeep on ONE building.
