Are you sure that isn't the price for available services instead of the room itself?
It's the day before the Auburn-UGA game so prices are gonna be high. Look to stay at places in Opelika. They will be cheaper. For you golfers there's always the Marriott at Grand National.
There's only 1 decent hotel near AU's campus, and it would be full for any football weekend, regardless of the opponent. So you'd be in Opelika or whatever anyway

We need to sacrifice a goat or a virgin before the game to ward off bad luck
A pumpkin.
I came here to say this.

I used to teach a class in Tuscaloosa...I always felt really gross

The wbsite indicated that tickets would go on sale in September. However, judging by the pics of the arena, if you are planning on going, get your tickets as soon as you can. The arena looks like it seats about 1000 and I'm am sure fans of places like Illinois and Iowa State will be looking to spend thanksgiving weekend on a gulf beach.
It's bizarre that in about two weeks, we have three separate road trips to the same region. Auburn, Troy, and Niceville, FL.
I'm not sure I'd degrade Niceville like that.
