First Class Gesture By UC Athletic Department

.jpg  NSSA cover and ad (480x320).jpg (Size: 121.99 KB / Downloads: 96)

As many of you know, I was fortunate to be named Ohio's Sportscaster of the Year in 2014. I thought Bearcats fans should know that at Monday's awards banquet in North Carolina, the UC athletic department kindly purchased a full-page ad in the program to offer congratulations.

Several college play-by-play announcers were among the award winners and very few received such a generous acknowledgement.

Thank you to President Ono, Mike Bohn, Karen Hatcher, Ryan Koslen, and all of my friends and co-workers at the #HottestCollegeInAmerica. It is a privilege to be the Voice of the Bearcats!

Sincerely,

Dan Hoard

This was in NORTH CAROLINA? This must mean that we are going to the ACC, right?

Could not have gone to a better sports announcer (should be with the Reds now) and an even better person. Congratulations Dan!

If Dan Hoard was announcing the Reds I would probably still be watching this season. Really hope they give him a shot.

It's hard to get people to agree on anything, but everyone loves Dan Hoard as the voice of the Bearcats.

Glad you aren't being taken for granted by the school. You deserve any recognition you get.

And to Dan's point, it sure does seem like this administration really does things the right way.

Congrats Dan.

When OSU poached Keels from UC, I was so mad. I thought know what. Can UC ever find another announcer that was invested in the athletic program? Or would UC fans have to settle for just a face/voice without any knowledge of the athletes or the University. I'd have to say they did - actually, IMO, they found an ever better announcer and spokesman. Having thought Keels was irreplaceable, man was I wrong. Nice job Dan, keep up the good work!

Don't take this as a damper on Dan's award, but why was the award for Ohio Sportscaster of the Year given out in North Carolina? Was it a regional thing where the sportscasters from many states were honored?
