So it looks like the HOD is the best of the rest again.

The plethora of new bowls also means that we will never again play in a P-5 bowl game against a P-5 opponent, outside of HOD or Access Bowl. Dreams of Music City, Liberty, Belk or any other low tier P-5 bowl can now be put to rest. We are back in the era of Refrigerator Bowl, Tangerine Bowl, Pecan Bowl, Camilla Bowl and Grantland Rice Bowls that we once played in 50 years ago.

HoD will always be our best bowl but the time slot for NO is nice and the Arizona bowl date is pretty good.

Unfortunately you are correct. Heart of Dallas is the bowl to play in

It was announced by the Bowl Association so I listed it.

We have a back up tie-in to the Independence Bowl. Outside chance of playing a P5 there.
Plus you always have the access bowl which Marshall was minutes away from attending.

I like the Arizona Bowl and would hope for a decent draw against a decent MWC opponent. AirForce, Colorado State would draw a good crowd.

A back up tie-in to the Indy bowl is not realistic. We would have to have 8 bowl eligible teams and either ACC or SEC being short. Its nice on paper and I relish the short drive but I just don't think we will see it open any time soon. The Access Bowl has basically taken the place of the old Mythical Small College National Championships of yonder year. You are the best of the little guys and you get to play a 9-4 team that's just an also ran in their perspective conference. Cynical? Yes but it is what it is.

Yep. I want that Big 12 opponent.
As for the other bowls not have a P5 opponent, Banowsky needs to get on the stick.

Agreed. Out of all the bowls listed on that schedule that showed built-in conference affiliations, just five were matchups between G5 and P5 teams.
Las Vegas Bowl (MWC/BYU vs. Pac 12)
HoD Bowl (Big 12 vs. C-USA)
Military Bowl (ACC/Notre Dame vs. American)
Armed Forces (Big 10 vs. MWC)
Birmingham Bowl (SEC vs. American)

So I see some of you are buying what the media tells us? On one hand you scream no respect when you think a p5 is rated higher preseason. On the other hand you agree with it. Because for the most part you are going to get one of those P5 schools that you complained about in the ranking...
for a bowl game.
Yet you consider that the best bowl. Be consistent, either it is or it's not and if it is ....
stop the complaining about no respect from preseason ratings. Because some of you are agreeing with them on one hand and saying they are wrong on the other.
For Western...HOD is not the best one.

The East needs a bowl against a P5. For the most part, the HoD belongs to the West. Hands off!

Step off the high horse there Francis. Bowls aren't just about strength of competition. We all want to play P5s in bowl games for media exposure purposes. Who here would rather play a 1 loss Utah State in a Pre-Christmas Bowl than a 7 win Penn State or Arizona State after Christmas? The preseason rankings are wrong and there is nothing wrong with wanting to beat up on a six or seven win P5 team to prove it.

well I will take the 1 loss team over a 6-6 Illinois any day..
no "high horse" be consistent .
Lets be honest you are not getting any respect for beating that 6-6 Illinois team than Western beating CMU. Most people and in most I assume we are looking for respect from P5 fans/media (since that seems to be the target here) looks at a 6-6 Ill as a team that shouldn't be in a bowl in the first place. Of course if you get a name along with that 6-6..like Penn St that's different.

RE: All 7 C-USA Bowl Dates Announced
I'm honestly impressed with your bowl line-up this year. One vs Big 12 and two vs The American and two vs MWC isn't bad at all. The Arizona bowl was a nice add. I would say while the Americans bowl line-up isn't as strong as last years but its still slightly better than C-USA's' but not by much.
AAC CUSA
7 bowls 7 bowls
1 vs SEC. 1 vs Big 12
1 vs ACC
1 vs MWC. 2 vs MWC
2 vs CUSA. 2 vs AAC
1 vs MAC. 1 vs MAC
1 vs SunBelt. 1 vs SunBelt
The American has back up agreements with the Liberty and independence. Conference USA has a back up agreement with the independence also. This year the American is backing up Army in the Poinsettia bowl so that almost guarantees the AAC an 8th bowl if we have enough teams eligible.
