Tigers athletics started before the 21st century. I'm sure there were plenty of tough guys who played for the Tigers (and who are equally as deserving) in the first 90 years of Tigers athletics.

I heard Gene Wilfong did all the dirty work for brother Win, but that was before my time.

Ask keith lee about the tough work derrick Phillips did to free up Keith.th

It's great to know that you think Josh is hiring the right kind of people. That is the sign of a great coach. Thanks for pointing that out.

RE: Antonio Anderson about to join the staff ?
We need guys like Antonio on staff obviously it would help tremendously with the communication breakdown and player development. I'm not sure inner city kids find it easy to communicate with Pastner. Two different worlds need guys who can get in kids level and break it down for them. Damon is a great hire. Antonio would be a good one too but do we have an opening? Maybe he will be on Damons staff here in a couple years.

Damon's presence seems to already be reaping dividends......His voice is obviously resonating within the organization and this is exactly what is drastically needed.....Someone understands that NOW, whether it's Josh or whomever. ....

I stated this in my wishlist for DS, that he would become the vocal leader of this program. .....Even if he were allowed to speak more during media appearances, I think it would help tremendously. .....If Josh is behind this & realizing this need. Then KUDOS! Thanx Josh, as I feel tha this movement shows either you really care about the program, and will do whatever it takes, including taking a back-seat and playing more of a supportive role.....That's a critical component to the success of this team, as players need defined roles, as well as the understanding of that role is the key to success. ....

We mentioned in previous posts that AA needed a role here when it was mentioned that he was back here in Memphis & was looking to be hired @ one of the high schools......someone is listening....someone is trying. ....someone is making a sacrifice and I'd go on a limb and say that we will see tremendous strides come to fruition with these recent aquisitions & developments

He tweeted Spoon about being in town the weekend of the 26th. Doesn't appear he is here now. Wonder where the OP got his info?

The Antonio/Maurice/Gene/Spiva award?

Antonio Anderson has the most regular season and NCAA tournament wins (along with Robert Dozier) in Tiger history.

If you include the vacated games, I think that is NCAA history, along with Dozier and McGrady.

You seem sure that AA will help "tremendously" with communication breakdown AND player development? Based on what? What players has Antonio Anderson developed and at what level?

Quote:I'm not sure inner city kids find it easy to communicate with Pastner. Two different worlds need guys who can get in kids level and break it down for them.

Aki Collins is from the Bronx and went to Clark College in Atlanta; whose student body is predominantly comprised of African Americans. I am very confident that his communication skills with inner city kids are pretty good.

Kirby is a Memphian who has spent 10 years coaching in urban settings in Memphis, Washington DC, and Houston. I am very confident that his communication skills with inner city kids are pretty good.

Keelon Lawson? A native Memphian who COACHED inner city kids for 10 years. I am very confident that his communication skills with inner city kids are pretty good.

Pastner's entire staff should be great in this area. Stoudamire doesn't change a thing in this regard.
