Calling it now: UCF v. Marshall in the Miami Beach Bowl.
Marshall would relocate to Florida, if they could, given their recruiting and bowl history (bahamas is like New Florida)

UCF doesn't want to leave the state for a postseason berth that isn't a big (P5) name.

History.

If UCF doesn't make the access bowl (which we won't, next year though.), we're going here. I think Marshall would take that opportunity too.

Marshall has 37 players on the roster from Florida, the most on any school not located in Florida. And Doc Holliday has made his living on recruiting South Florida mainly Miami Dade/Broward counties since 1979.

If Marshall has a good enough record next year and has the right to pick Holliday will chose the best school with the best record to play. Last year that just happened to be NIU at 11-2 in Boca Raton.

The only way I would see Doc turning down the best team with the most wins possible is if the HOD bowl were to land Ohio State or Michigan or the Independence were to land Florida/Florida State/Miami.

That would be a fun one. Marshall didn't disappoint last year in the Boca Bowl.

I'd say USF has a better shot of landing in the Miami Bowl though.

If USF is bowl eligible I see them going to the St. Pete bowl (or cure bowl). That's assuming that the conference has a decision in the destination, because I believe there would be more support for USF going to a bowl they haven't gone to in a decade (or ever) versus a team that has gone there 3 times.

I was discussing with someone the other day if we Herd fans might as well just resign ourselves to the fact that we'll be in the Miami Beach Bowl no matter what happens this year... short of being in the Access Bowl. I just don't see a scenario in which Marshall goes anywhere else this year for a CUSA bowl.

Our bowl lineup is such hot garbage that playing UCF or ECU in St. Pete or Miami is the only desirable outcome (in my opinion) if we don't make the Access Bowl.

Maybe you'd enjoy the MAC, then? If there's a C-USA team in the game, it's far from "hot garbage".

Gawd, I'd like to play in a bowl against a P5. Sorry but we need to get over this - "oh, the kids get to go home one more time." crap. We play in FL at least once every year. The kids are home for the holidays and some in the summer. We have exposure down there and have the brand. Lets build the brand and get exposure outside of FL for a change. Geezus.

Oh don't get me wrong, if a P5 game falls to either team they're gone faster than a dozen donuts at fat camp.

I just don't think that will be happening.

If those two teams played in a bowl game, the amount of trolling leading up to it would break the internet.

I think Doc and Hamrick have taken the right approach to our bowl selection, though - choose the best quality opponent. If we don't make the Access Bowl and we can't choose the HOD Bowl vs a Big 12 program, then whatever bowl is available vs an AAC team will probably be the next best option. If we can't get those first two bowls, a bowl vs UCF in Miami would be great. There was some bad blood in that rivalry at one time and we'd get back to our prime recruiting area.

Yeah I think you're right. If USF gets to 6 wins, we're going to St Pete or Cure. It hasn't been quite a decade since we went to St Pete, but I get your point.

We haven't played in a few years so it would be like pouring gas on an ember. Sit back and watch the show.

Maybe we'll continue our weather phenomena matchups that usually accompany our games. The last time we played was almost a blizzard hurricane. The prior one was the monsoon that UCF fans still talk about to this day, and before that was the fog...

Lots of fans and players would rather play UCF in Miami than #7 Big 12 in HOD.

Personally, I would LOVE a UCF-Marshall match-up in Miami.

Only way Hambone turns down UCF in Fla is for you know who in HOD.

As far as the Big 12 teams are concerned, I don't see Marshall playing Kansas, Iowa State or Texas Tech in HOD. I think any of the seven other Big 12 teams, Marshall would go play if that option were presented...and yes, one in particular, Marshall would jump at without thinking even a split second.

I really think Marshall would travel for that game.

UCF would definitely travel, simply because of proximity, and at least some of our fans would have interest in that game, meaning the ones who don't reside on the internet and aren't aware of the rivalry.
