Kansas Limits Welfare ATM Withdrawals After Cards Used In Casinos and Cruises
You can no longer withdraw more than $25 in cash per day in Kansas with your welfare card. How are the needy going to get by with that? Cruise ships notoriously charge outrageous prices for everything. Now the recipients could find themselves cash strapped on their cruise. Or what about when they are at the blackjack table splitting kings all night. You got to be able to get to that cash. $25 aint gonna cut it.

Shannon Cotsoradis, president of the advocacy group Kansas Action for Children, told Bloomberg News that state lawmakers “acted on anecdotes” about TANF cards being used on cruise ships and casinos

I'm on board with this.

Recipients shouldn't have access to any cash whatsoever.

I'm all for feeding them and putting a roof over their head etc but they should not have access to any cash.

This is possibly more about trying to get more ATM fees to the banks.

We're calling it an attempt to force poor people to pay for more fees to Wall Street banks..

and thats a shame, because that will limit how much money they can gamble in a casino or spend on their cruise.

Makes so much sense someone is bound to complain against it.

I was wondering the same thing. Evidently he's referring to the other tin foil hat wearing fools that would rather make up a devious reason that doesn't exist rather then the completely obvious problem staring them in the face.

If you can find a way that no private entity can make money off of it, then you'd see a lot less opposition.

10% minimum of every $25 withdrawal will go to an ATM fee. Fees paid on $100 will quadruple. The ATM fee criticism is founded.

Why don't we just have someone in the top half of the economic ladder "adopt" someone in the lower half?

Assign a lower middle class person to me and I'll give them an ATM card for my bank account. This cuts out the government middle-man, and it puts cash in the hands of the poor very fast.

Correction. Fees paid to purchase products and services not allowed to be purchased on your welfare EBT card will quadruple.
