RE: Super Regional games (June 5-8)
In the 15th inning in Ft Worth, the Aggies and Frogs are tied 4-4 in the game to determine the last team to the CWS. I'm surprised no one is watching. It's pretty enthralling.

An error by the Aggie Right Fielder puts one on for the Frogs in the 15th with one out. TCU has had runners on constantly in extras.

Last ticket to Omaha waiting to be claimed. Fullerton beat Louisville earlier to qualify, while Vandy completed their sweep of the Illini.

On to the 16th! The Aggies haven't had much offense since scoring two to tie it in the ninth. It's been all Frogs, all the time, but they have left a passel o runners in scoring position in the last six innings.

500 pitches so far. Frog pitchers have struck out many Aggies. It was 21 three innings ago.

RE: Super Regional games (June 5-8)
CSFullerton beat Louisville in extras with a disputed home run that just barely nicked the foul pole. It seems unfair that the foul pole is actually fair. Louisville angered the Baseball Gods by excessively demonstrating on field after a strikeout when an inning wasn't even over. The Cardinal pitcher then started insulting the Titan dugout by yelling at them at the end of the inning. From that moment they were doomed. CSF scored two to tie it in the ninth, then got the nearly foul HR to win it.

Anyone still awake? Other than elfowl it appears.
Correction...the A&M defense fell asleep. Tough stuff for the Aggies. Congrats to TCU, the golden standard in Texas college baseball this decade.

With two outs in the 16th the Aggie third baseman made two errors on the same play and it cost them a trip to Omaha. The last Golden Ticket has been claimed by TCU. First the third baseman fumbled a grounder into foul territory, then he panicked throwing home, bouncing it past the catcher. The runner should have been out by ten feet. Sayonara, Aggies.

Just reviewed the play. He should have been out by 20 feet.

RE: Super Regional games (June 5-8)
Caught the last half inning, B16:
Frogs at 1st & 2nd, two outs ... left-handed batter slaps a hard grounder down the 3rd base line. Playing away from the bag, the Aggie 3rd baseman makes a good play to get to the ball behind the bag near the line, but then drops it and watches it roll a short distance into foul territory.
The lead Frog runner keeps running around 3rd ... through the 3rd-base coach's stop sign ... and barrels toward home.
The Aggie 3rd baseman collects himself, picks up the ball and throws home. The runner is a dead duck. He'll be out by at least 15 feet and the inning will be over. But the throw bounces some 10 feet in front of home ... and the catcher misses it.
Safe! Frogs win, 5-4! They're going to Omaha ... and dogpiled.
What a tough way to lose. But the ESPN announcer had said earlier in the inning that TCU had had something like 16 base runners since the 9th inning and had scored no runs.

There is a reason Gideon lost his starting job at 3B for the Aggies.

Odd how there have been so many long extra-inning games in the NCAA tournament this year.

RE: Super Regional games (June 5-8)
That Aggie play was similar to how Fullerton almost gave Louisville life in the bottom of the 9th. With 2 outs, the Louisville batter hit an easy grounder to the 3B, who scooped it easily. But then he double-clutched and somehow short-armed the throw that bounced to the 1B, who couldn't scoop it. Even with the double-clutch and bounce, it would have easily had the runner out. He just choked the throw. Getting those final outs can be tough - the mind loves getting in the way (as TCU found out allowing A&M to get back in the game in the bottom of the 9th, including walking a guy who was trying to bunt runners over).
Couldn't write anything last night, as the cable internet was out.
