NIU Student Center Is Now A Greyhound Bus Stop
http://northernpublicradio.org/post/niu-...d-bus-stop

It says this will run 7 days a week with 2 round trips each day... I wonder if this is a possible game day option for some.

The new Greyhound buses look pretty sharp.

With the last bus heading East leaving at 3:10pm, using it for a game would only work for an 11am kickoff.

The last bus heading West leaving at 5:25pm gives you a shot at using it for a game with an 11am - 1pm kickoff.

This was needed by our campus 50 years ago. I'm glad someone finally woke up.

Amazing to me that there has not been any Bus service to DeKalb from anywhere till now?

There was Greyhound service from Chicago to Charleston when I attended EIU, also a bus from the train stop in Mattoon. EIU is half the size of NIU.

There was Greyhound service in the mid-80's when I went to NIU. The station was downtown around 4th St. Not sure when it ended.

There has been Greyhound bus service to DeKalb for as long as I can remember. My wife used to take the Greyhound from the south suburbs to DeKalb in the early to mid 1970s.

I took the Greyhound several times in the early 70's. Stopped at the Lake Street station in Oak Park. If memory is correct: $2.50 one way...

Many universities are now stops for megabus which are state of the art, clean, and have wifi so you can work, study, watch movies, etc so students love that. Their route map is mainly comprised of college towns and large cities. Megabus.com.

Greyhound used to use Lukulos as their stop, it's just moved to the Student Center. Megabus is good too. My cousin used it several times to get from the city back to Omaha to visit her parents. It's definitely something NIU could investigate for the out of stat kids.

Ha. When I lived in Dixon as a kid I would take the Greyhound to Chicago to visit my dad and I remember it stopping right in front of the old Molly's.

Yes, it did. I took Greyhound to Iowa City from Lukulos back in 2004. I thought they had gotten rid of the service when i was still in school there but you are saying they just moved it to HSC?

That's what the articles in the OP and HuskieJohn's schedule looks like. I was there 99-03 and we'd see passengers buying tickets all the time when we'd go get food or walk to rent a movie or what not.

RE: NIU Student Center Is Now A Greyhound Bus Stop
I can remember in the late 70's Greyhound sponsored student buses on Friday afternoons leaving from the Student Center that took students back to the suburbs and downtown Chicago. I took the bus home that went to the west suburbs. It would drop me off in Lombard at the corner of North Avenue and Grace Street.

From Huskie bus to Greyhound bus.

Now I can't get Midnight Cowboy out of my head.

Everybody's talking at me.
I don't hear a word they're saying,
Only the echoes of my mind.
