CUSA championship game and TV contract
How much will having the championship game in the negotiations help out? Last years championship game had a great audience. I would think that has to help in negotiations.

When do we expect there to be an announcement on our new tv deal? Will it be before the next CUSA championship game? It'd be nice to have 2 years with a good audience.

Conference Presidents meet next week and preliminary talks about the new tv deal are on the agenda. The current deal which started with the 2011 football season wasn't announced until January of that year. I wouldn't expect to see anything official until after the coming season.

The CBS deal was announced in July right around media day in '10 starting in '11. FOX deal was right after New Years in '11. During those six months is where the ESPN negotiations started to break down.

RE: CUSA championship game and TV contract
We will be much better off if we can get our league title game off ESPN and on FS1.

The ESPN productions of our last two title games (at least and perhaps before, too) were garbage. FS 1 does a great job on the production side...they blow the ESPN treatment of "minor games ESPN doesn't care about" out of the water. Their broadcast teams are actually familiar with the league at that point, too, versus having Pam Ward come in and say things that just don't make any sense.

Speaking of things that don't make any sense, Pam Ward hasn't called a college football game since the 2011 season. The female announcer the past 4 seasons everyone mistakes for her is Beth Mowins. There's a certain irony when everyone in the last 4 years hates on "Ward calling the games because she never gets things right".

I'd like to just move the title game off the noon spot.

I'm glad you caught that...I didn't want that bit of irony to go unnoticed. 04-bow

BTW, loved that a Marshall grad was on the broadcast crew of that Rice-Houston 20-inning game the other night... Big Game strikes again.

I have the 2008 Independence Bowl on DVD and you have to mute it to keep from poking you ear drums out. Pam Ward is hard to listen too.

It really would be nice to get a network's best announcers and production crew as opposed to a couple of 3rd teamers. I hope FOX gets our championship game very badly.

I'd like FOX to get the championship and air it on FOX OTA.

I'd like Fox to actually play our games. We had 15 national broadcasts last year. The lowest in all of FBS, the Sun Belt had 17. Is Fox paying us so they don't have to play our games?

I just want content and I want to be able to stream it when I can as well. I hate the evil empire more than anybody but ESPN3 is a great thing and I am hopeful we can find something just like it.

OTA?

OTA = Over-the-Air, meaning the main Fox Network.

What sport are you talking about? For football the SBC had 10 national games and that includes 2 on espnnews and 3 games were on Tuesday/Wednesday. The MAC had 17 with one of those on espnnews plus their championship game and 11 of 17 were on either Tuesday or Wednesday. That makes for good ratings, poor attendance.

Sorry, I meant broadcast on national channels. Some of those broadcasts were only east coast/west coast or regional. This includes any game with a SBC or C-USA team playing, not just conference games.
