The bolded part is highly concerning. The full interview will be on Fox6 at 5.

Yeah, I saw that on twitter about 20 mins ago. This was probably done to keep Clark feeling uneasy, deter recruiting and give them the option to hatchet the program again if it drops in the red at all.
Conversly, if Clark performs too well another higher level program easily pay the buyout with a lower salary and shorter term contract and we would be looking for a new HC.

I'm sure that's his opening position. We'll see what Clark's agent can negotiate

I read into it as Ingram isn't committing to anything. He's said several times 2016 football isn't a guarantee. He's brand new on the job and can't assure us of anything.

I really don't have much of a feel for Ingram. Is he going to be a Watzi in training or a valuable ally of UAB football?

With zero knowledge of the situation or specifics, I wouldn't be surprised if UAB tried to get Clark to honor his previous contract despite the buyout.

How can Ingram provide any specifics? They don't know what conditions will be imposed by the NCAA. They don't know if it is 2016 or 2017 before play can begin. They don't know if Paul Bryant Jr. is going to set the football building on fire over the weekend. Cut the guy some slack and let them handle it like professionals.

Yeah, I really don't know how Ingram can win at this point. Let's give him some time to get things together.
As far as Clark goes, he needs to walk the **** away if they won't give him at least 4 years.

I think he deserves ten but if they won't give him a standard 4 year deal then he should just go.

When I watch Ingram on these clips I keep getting the uncomfortable mental image of Watts' arm up Ingram's butt playing puppeteer and ventriloquist, and we know whose arm is up Watts' butt.
Now if you disagree, please point me to signs that Mark Ingram is his own man.

I can't imagine this is Ingram's last job. If he has any ambition, then he's going to work his butt off to make this successful. If we fail, his résumé goes to crap.

He might be a good guy for UAB. No clue. But I'm waiting for someone to nail him on this "like our peers do" crap.

RE: Mark Ingram Interviewed by media today
I'm not a big fan of how attached he is to Dr. Watts, but he did just get hired recently. That's nothing new. I'm just waiting on him to do something. I want to see his praised fund raising. I want to see how he does good by Coach Clark. I want to see him through his actions, not necessarily what he says.
That said, it'd be ridiculous not to offer Coach Clark something around five years. The average three year experiment thing just plain won't work. You need to give a guy a chance to see his recruits properly develop and play the kind of football he wants to field. More than that, the administration lied to his face and basically cheated him and everyone involved with the program. The university has to show some kind of real, meaningful commitment to him with the contract.

Besides, consider the absolute cluster he walked into. Needs more time to understand all the interactions. Had to be careful maybe promises with an uncooperative board ready to take his legs out.
