Changes to Rules for Men's Basketball for 2015-16
http://www.emueagles.com/news/2015/6/9/M...ath=mbball

I like a lot of the new rules including the 30-sec clock, eliminating the 5 second closely guarding call but my favorite is:

" • Removing the prohibition on dunking in pregame warmups and at halftime."

This change will probably be known around EMU and the NCAA as the 'un-Super rule'...

This alone should keep Super from the Convo this coming year or not arriving before game time or maybe deciding to visit the concession stands at half-time or both. :)

In fairness, a proposed experimental rule to go to six fouls should be named after the EMU 'Center-by-Committee' post players.

Some of our post players could foul out in less time than it takes to go to concession stand and back...

That is funny!!! And true, Samuels might get 20 minutes a game with 6 fouls

I didn't want to mention Samuels, by name, but yes... Lol.

Those weren't NBA scouts watching Samuels play last year, they were from the NCAA... I think they were moved by pity to change this rule.

Emu79,
Imteresting read thanks for sharing.

I think this overall bodes well for EMU.
1) That is 5 seconds less they need to stifle the opposing offense.
2) EMU focuses on good defense, rather than tough physical defense. So not hurt there. Conversely will help EMU's undersized lineup.

Actually EMU Steve posted this, so thank him. Hopefully Nobles is putting some time in the weight room. I'm curious as to whether we will get another post player. One guy Steve missed on the list is Ben Dickinson 6'9 240 from UNC Greensboro. He will have visited here during the last EMU Classic.

I definitely agree on Nobles bulking up. With how the current roster looks, now that Ajayi is gone, I'm assuming Nobles will see at least a few minutes at five. There is no way we make it through the whole season with just Samuels and Naz at center. Someone mentioned in another thread (I believe it was Steve) that since we haven't seen an official roster yet, that Murph is still looking for another center eligible for this year. With Madray coming aboard next year, it would be nice to get someone with more than a year of eligibility, but I doubt that this late in the game.

Could be a walk-on, as well...

I will always show up early to beat the rush of all those fans that come to watch un defended players dunk a ball. I normally walk around looking for dust bunnies. Half time i use the mens room much more interesting looking at the walls.07-coffee3

My bad, Thanks Steve!

As for another big man, there are no scholarships left for this year, I believe. Are you thinking year after? A lot of question marks around Nobles. Depending on how he performs will dictate a lot for the team next season.

There are lot of ways to free a scholarship. E.g., UofM didn't offer a scholarship to Max Bielfeldt as a 5th year senior. Or a former walk-on could go off scholarship for a year. Coaches are creative.

From that statement, I would assume you feel very much at home for women's games.

Has there ever been a dunk in EMU women's basketball history? Inquiring minds want to know (well, maybe... Lol).

A few years back there was this player that was able to. I think she did 3 or 4 times during her playing days.

I literally would rather watch paint dry than watch women's basketball. It is unwatchable, terrible, just terrible. Viva LeDunk!!!!
