Basically, the Huskies can't draw big crowds, because they play MAC teams, and they can't move up to a higher conference, because they can't draw big crowds.
They best the Huskies can do is keep winning championships and start winning bowl games.
And build a bigger stadium to attract the occasional bigger team.

I like this one better.
When you see Morgan Freeman's picture next to a quote, you either get busy reading it in Morgan Freeman's voice, or get busy opening another page.
Ahhh...one of my favorite movies.
Wonder if those 2 escapees from upstate New York are on that same beach in Mexico?

The NCAA committee is recommending to remove the 12 team requirement for Conference Championship games in football.
http://csnbbs.com/thread-741060-post-121...id12151310
The vote will happen in April of 2016.
Trying to take this as a NIU homer with the glass is half full perspective...this is good for NIU's chances because frankly we are not even close to being ready until our East side premium structure and South bowl is finished AND our attendance average doubles to 26k (figuring on a 30-33k stadium capacity).
Cincinnati is the obvious choice for #11 but Memphis, ECU, Houston and UCF are all ready as is and if the B12 was desperate to add 2 teams for next year then NIU would be left out and really not even in the real conversation.
Nothing has changed as a fanbase we still have to get people in the stands.

RE: WVU AD in favor of Big 12 expansion if 'right' teams
NIU won't get a B12 invitation if the B12 expands within the next 4 years. NIU has a known-mid-major-name about as much as East Carolina and UCF. Cinci & Memphis have a bigger 'name', and as good or better basketball which is key (which NIU does not by any means). NIU's main strength though is the Chicago-area TV market. But IMO, unless the B12 is going to expand to 14-16 teams, NIU isn't going to be a Real consideration, so one's hopes should come down to earth and not Expect Anything on that front.
I think the main thing is AAC, as one poster pointed out. If the B12 rips 2 from the AAC, NIU will be a Real Consideration for the AAC. Obviously NIU wouldn't want to join CUSA unless surveying it they see that CUSA will be on their way up with their so-many converted FCS teams. Of course, in a nutshell -- it wouldn't be worth it. Marshall wouldn't be leaving to the CUSA if they stayed in the East up until now, the way CUSA has devolved over the years.
Would the AAC be worth the join, without say, Memphis & Cinci? Well, more money, but more expenses (travel) -- and forced to pour more money into basketball if they haven't planned that already. In the end, to join another conference you'd want it to be a move of Significant Improvement/Image when you're winning yours consistently.
Remember, it would be AAC *without* Cinci & Memphis.
- East Carolina
- Central Florida
- Houston
- Navy [joining]
- Temple
- UConn
- South Florida
- SMU
- Tulane
- Tulsa
- *Another Addition to make an even 12 [LA-Tech/Marshall/Toledo/Ohio/GA-Southern/LA-Laf]
IMO, yeah, as long as NIU's calculations, considering ESPN3/CBSSN MAC deal and AAC's P5 bowls recently only being temporary since stepping down from P5 themselves, that NIU Definitely won't be losing any money and only have the potentiality to Gain $$, even if they're always in the middle-of-the-pack --> Sure, go for it. But not such a quick/easy decision.

NIU has put itself into a great position when you add stadium expansion and the Chicago market, a very attractive option , if not at this point, maybe 2 or 3 years from now

This was a pic tweeted out by HAF last week about SF speaking to donors about the master plan. It seems like a very small group so I would have to assume it was our VIPs. Any idea who these gentlemen are?
