I wouldn't answer calls from Marshall either honestly. WV is a terrible state for FBS recruiting and Marshall generally has a good team. Why bother scheduling an away game at Marshall if you stand a fair chance of losing and don't get any good recruiting benefit from it?
We're only 2 hours apart, 127 miles... it's easy travel (Rt 60).

And yet Eastern Crap U. did. That's how we have the 2020+ dates for the crash anniversary.

USM does not have a problem with their home and home contracts. I cant think of even one that wasnt honored by the visitor and that includes the likes of Nebraska, Cal, Okie State, Kansas, Virginia, Illinois, Texas A&M, Louisville, etal, all of whom showed up at the Rock as previously agreed. If you look around Dogpatch a bit you can understand why they wont go there to La Techs home field.

Rumors floating around WKU and UofL are signing a 2 game series in football, but I bet our "home" game will be somewhere neutral....
LP Field? I'd bet that's where it would be. When we played UofL back in 2007 (or around then), it was about 50/50 MT fans and UofL fans. I think about 40k went to the game, and that was when they were ranked #6 or #7. I would think today you guys would be a better draw.

Nice. That's a very winnable game even on the road. Toss in a home date and it's a homerun.
Seriously? Why? Because they're Kentucky?

My guess is we took less money to get the return game. They're only paying us $200,000 and for the game here we pay them nothing.

That makes no sense. You mean uk is paying you $200,000 for a road game and giving you a home game also? Why?

Easy... They will keep their revenue, and we will keep ours. Since their stadium is larger, they make more money than we do.

The unsual part is USM not paying UK when they come. There's almost always financial consideraion provided to the traveling team regardless of circumstance, in 1-1's the schools just pass money back and forth essentially They would have gotten $750k-$1.2M for just the one game in Lexington, they opted for $200k plus a home game with no money going UK's way.

Been playing football for over 100+ seasons, and this will be the first SEC team outside of the state of MS to ever visit USM's football stadium.
It's been a large hill to climb, but we've finally gotten towards the top of that hill.
Now just schedule a home/home with Vandy, find a way to get another home/home with MSU in the works, and then try some Big XII/ACC/American teams to get home/home with.

Vandy has upcoming 2-2 and (I believe)1-1 with MT and WKU respectively, seems doable for USM.

I was lectured by some USM fans on here that this could never happen and we should settle for body bag games. This is a great day for USM because maybe this AD isn't going to think like some of our fans. Great job McGillis.

This game is a byproduct of losing...hopefully S. Miss can do the same as Western. Western got the uk games because we were a moveup and not for a second did anyone at uk believe a team in year 3 of their moveup could beat a SEC team home or away. Western did just that..home and away. I don't look for any more games between uk and Western in the near future...at least I hope not. If uk schedules Western....
it'll be because Western just went through 3 or 4 losing seasons of football. But I think it will take even more than that to get the thought of Western beating them twice out of their minds

And all this time we were led to believe all this ad does is sit around with his feet propped up.

This statement holds water as long as we don't lose by 30+ points.

We can also thank UAB for getting this series. UAB was scheduled to go to Lexington in 2016. When UAB announced they were dropping football UK was left scrambling to find an FBS school to fill that date.

Statement holds water no matter what the score. It can and has been done, and will be the way back up for us if it can be done. 50 years of body bag games certainly haven't done the job.....

Wrong.
If we end up getting similarly slaughtered then we may as well whored ourselves out to Alabama or the like and made a lot more money doing it.
If we lose by 30+ points, then these games too go on the "body bag" list.

I guess this goes to show why it is good to have a terrible SEC program a few miles away who is willing to play. I hope we annihilate Vandy this year, and USM does the same to UK when you guys play.
